Does anyone else think this is horse shite ? The students should go stock up before the deadline then have a barricade protest. Either refund my money now or I’m not leaving.

Isn’t LSU offering to keep kids in dorms and feed those who don’t have a place to go?

I think they said the dinning halls may shut down but that they will work something out to feed the students

100% they won’t be refunded.

A lot of students can’t afford flights home.

Figured it’d make sense to keep them congregated on campus instead of letting them fly back to all corners of the Earth and potentially spreading it further.

Or they could just go home instead of being trapped in a dorm

I would rather have the Wuhan Flu than be holed up in Kirby Smith.

Yes, per the email that was posted in another thread. They'll even deliver meals if the dining halls have to be closed.

I can take one or two in Baton Rouge. They must be able to cut grass, do their own laundry and clean their rooms.

Dtr is on spring break but she's here at home. Said she's going back lol. I was like and if you can't get in ... then what?

Seriously thought, she's probably got things in her dorm like books that she would need for online classes but didn't bring home.

Referring to “another thread” with all of the virus threads isn’t clear.

Especially since plane tickets are expensive as hell when you buy right before the flight. And they probably already bought tickets for the end of the semester.

Agree. You have to wonder how people that dumb get into high positions in academia.

But at least they have provisions for students who can't leave at the drop of a hat.

Is anyone "kicking" students out of dorms? Or are you panicking?

I'm not familiar with what LSU is doing, but Memphis and Vanderbilt are only canceling "in person" classes. They will still have on line classes. The dorms are still open for students if they choose to stay there.

I have 2 kids at LSU. Here is an excerpt from an email LSU sent my son today.

quote:

If LSU were to close, students who live on campus who are unable to leave will be accommodated. We recognize that some students are unable to travel home, and we absolutely will continue to provide those students with a place to live and with meals. Even if dining halls were to close for eating in, meals will still be provided to students who cannot leave campus.

Regarding sporting events, also in the same email.

quote:

We have received questions about upcoming events for the spring, from awards ceremonies to State Rally to commencement to athletic events. Currently, because there are no cases of the virus at LSU, most events are still being held as planned. However, we are closely monitoring this situation, which is constantly changing, and are looking at all upcoming large-scale events and will communicate any cancellations to you as soon as we know them.
