My favorite part of the article as to why the new regs were put in place, basically we got to save Kenner culture:
Advocate:Kenner boat owners revolt against new storage regulations
quote:
. The new code was to serve as the primary tool for implementing a master plan that calls for preserving Kenner's historic structures while encouraging the development of housing that resists hurricane damage and supports neighborhood beautification efforts, among other goals
quote:
, the City Council approved a code that for the first time said where boats could be parked at Kenner residences: in garages, driveways, backyards or side yards that have fences or hedges to shield them from public view

Many cities and HOA's have rules against leaving boats in driveways. I don't see the big deal.

I dont think the city should be telling people where to park their boat.
A neighborhood association can get away with this but not the whole city.

Because not every house has the ability to comply with this requirements. People purchased boat/houses with the understanding that they could keep them in the driveway, but now the govt is trying to say they can't.

Probably because the boat takes up all the driveway in those small homes, so people park on the street. I can understand both sides of the argument.

I'm strait outta Kenner Brah and I approve of this code. My boat is in the backyard because I'm not trashy.

Kenna is sounding more like communist Russia than America's city.

It's going to be really easy to sort out the Kenner trash from the rest of the population by whoever is upset by this.
