Is your brother's boss a liar or a retard? It took him 3 days to drive 800 miles? Did he think he could only charge with a 110 outlet?

I believe it. Some of the charging networks not named Tesla are terrible. You drive out of the way to get to charger that either doesn’t work or works at 1/10 the speed it is supposed to.

I’d guess he’s fairly smart considering the size of the company he owns but I have no idea I’ve never met him I just heard about how the actual range was not what was advertised and how he had difficulty finding working charging stations. I’ve seen videos on YouTube where results are similar. One guy took two days to get across Utah in the hummer ev experiencing the same problems.

Sell!

Rivian loses $30k per sold vehicle. That is unsustainable.

You're buying a highly specialized bit of tech that will require specialized maintenance ... and the company that provides said maintenance is likely out of business within the next 1-2 years.

Is that a risk worth taking?

These are all over the place in Denver now. Its a SUV EV that will get you from Denver to Vail and back during the winter on a single charge. Supposedly the Tesla plaids can make that same route. No chance with any other manufacturer.

Supposedly a complaint is the motor that runs the self leveling suspension makes a lot of noise since it’s inside the cabin. On the pickup, that motor is outside the truck.

I’d keep it. I want one.

Unless you have a financial reason not to go through with it or you're just completely uninterested at this point, keep it IMO

Won't be the last car you ever own

I would not go through the hassle of reselling it.
Either take delivery confidently in your decision to order it in the first place or don't accept delivery.

Thought Rivian went bankrupt

I don't believe they're profitable yet... but that's not the same thing

Rivian has received $1,532,854,012 in government subsides in the last three years. $1,476,899,999 was awarded to them in 2022. If they can't stay afloat with that, I don't know what they're doing. For reference Ford was given $1.7 billion in subsidies this year for EV battery production and GM was given $1.7 billion in 2022.

Also, if after getting 1.5 billion dollars in subsidies, they still lose $30k on an $80K+ vehicle. I'm not sure how this EV thing is going to work for consumers. Tax payers are footing the bill for all of the transition to EVs.

Keep it.

If Rivian survives - great.

if not, a great story and keepsake for your heirs

What should you do? How would I know what you need?
It is a nice suv, with tons of power but, won’t work for long trips.
If this was me, it would not be my only car. Anything past a daily driver has a specific use ex fun or work. - I can think of vehicles that are more fun,, and better at doing work.
At the end of the day,,, who care what guys like me think. It is about you,, your needs,, wants,,,, and what excites you.
Choose Wisely,,, there is. 50% chance you will make the right decision.

Thats the total value of a complex deal with the state of Georgia. No one gave them a 1.5B check. Its mostly tax rebates.

The deal is almost identical to what states give for refineries.
