Jesus Christ Lucille, calm down.
You and the other wannabe Aaron Franklins were the ones who came in here and starting trying to be the gatekeepers of who can partake in grilling foods or smoking meats.
This has been y’all throughout the thread:

“Well actually, if you’re not using an offset smoker that’s got room for 12 briskets and a cord of wood in the firebox, you may as well just throw your grill away and not participate in cooking food.”

I didn’t say any of that frickface. I don’t even use an offset smoker. But I sure as hell don’t let a computer do the cooking for me.

Oh well now that you said that, you're still wrong.
Am I???
Picture this. You have a couple other OT ballers over next weekend for an OT Baller craft beer and jacked up Denali 2500 meet up. Bring the wives and Jaxton and Braxton!!! There will be a lot of really expensive sporting goods to play with! And we can show you our comemeroative menus from Maysleighn's post-baptism dinner at Supper Club BR!!
Anyway, you're going to make brisket. You don't have time to sit at the smoker all night b/c you have to run to Bass Pro way out in Denham Springs so you use the computer to make your totes awesome brisket.
Saturday afternoon arrives:
Chad and Biff: "WHOA BRAD THAT BRISKET IS SICK BRO!!! WHERE DID YOU GET IT???"
Maysleighn: Brad made it
Chad: But we went to Bass Pro this AM and stopped at Shooters for a superbreakfast platter, how did you have time??
Brad: I've got a computerized OT baller kamado
Chad: Um, so the computer made it?
Biff: Bro what else does your computer do?
Brad: No I made it, I have smoking skills
Biff: No you put the meat on the rack, my kid could do that with his super dark travel ball glasses on
Brad: You guys can leave!!! The OT says this is cool and super legit! Get your trashy 2018 Denalis off my land and quit harassing me. I'm honestly tired of your trash and moving to [The woodlands/Alpharetta/Franklin/other classy place] where I'm appreciated!!!
Brad and Chad: This is lame, lets go to Famous Dave's

There are an awful lot of people in this thread who are so insecure over their masculinity that a smoker/grill is a major threat.
crazy how much "discussion" a fricking grill with a pid controller on it has garnered. I guess we can throw it in the same realm as ford vs chevy, gas vs electric, etc. jajaja

Nor do I, dick snot. I don’t really know why you’re arguing at this point other than to try and be internet cool guy.

So it has the stuff that I have for my BGE just not attached?
Same. I have a BGE. I use a loof lighter to get started. If I'm smoking something, I use my pitmaster IQ to regulate the temp. I have additional wired probes that monitor the meat temp. It would be nice to have something as slick as the Konnected Joe. When I'm cooking a brisket, I have wires all over the place and it looks like someone is on life support. Say what you want, but my brisket comes out perfect every time b/c I can monitor the pit temp and meat temp.

whats the difference between the "computer" cooking for you and the regulator on your stove keeping a constant flow of gas to maintain the temp for you? its the exact same concept. you tell your stove you want medium heat and it keeps the heat consistent just like you dial in 225 on the controller and it maintains 225 as long as there is charcoal. maybe this explanation will help some of you realize how stupid you sound.

You went through all that trouble and almost an entire day to come up with that attempt at humor and it just did not deliver. Furthermore, what difference, at the end of the day, does it make for someone to turn the digital part on for an hour or two while they go run an errand?
Struggling to understand why you, the consumer of the food that I prepared, give one ounce of a frick with which instrument it was cooked with as long as it’s good.

Nope, to take these guys arguments out further, gotta only cook a gumbo or jambalaya over an open flame in a fire you started and maintained yourself. And gotta use only ingredients you yourself grew.

What a moronic take
Absolutely.
We have a Recteq and use it all of the time. Haven’t done a brisket yet (just got a nice one on sale at Costco so sooner rather than later) but it smokes some fantastic ribs, chicken wings, pork butt, etc.
Still have to prep all of that stuff though. And set the temp, check on it to mop it (depending on what we’re fixing), foil it, and all of that business. Make our own sauce and own rubs.
It’s still BBQ despite the gatekeepers losing their shite. And it’s hilarious to see them spin.

Pellet baws are the new travel ball dads.

And “purists” are straight up Boomer energy baws.

it took like 2 minutes to come up with???
I mean most people know there is a cultural difference between store-bought and home-made food. Never ask a hostess what store she bought her food at, its insulting.
in that same vein, it's ludicrous to pretend you got smoking skillz when the stupid computer made it. Stop calling it "the hobby" or trying to impress people when a computer (like the one in your microwave and oven) made the brisket for you.

Good thing I don't have a pellet grill and the grill in question here is not a pellet grill either.
Nor do I really care what type of instrument you use to cook your food. So long as it's edible and preferably tasty.

The electric lighter and fan would be perfect for overnight cooks.
And this is one of the biggest things about this that is a step up. I have a green egg and I'll say the pull out ash tray as well is nice. I shop vac my ashes currently to help with air flow. I may look into this at some point because I love the charcoal cook and the way this is built has better temp control which is one of the main detractions from current models.

I agree. Purists, in any hobby, are the most insufferable people you will ever encounter. They think their way is the only way. They are present in every hobby known to man.
Why would anyone spend that much time chastising another person who is doing something that is harmless, constructive, and enjoyable to them? Especially when it comes to cooking good food.
They must be a miserable person with little to worry about.
If you want to be a purist, great, be one. But don't deliver your" high and mighty" opinions to those who don't want to take your straight and narrow path to a great brisket.
