Kamado Joe has come out with a new version of their grill

This is wild. Electric charcoal lighter and fan built in to the grill with a digital screen to control the temperature. Also has built in meat thermometers. And, if you don’t want to use the digital screen you can turn it off and cook your food the regular way.
They’re smoking the competition in their market. Nobody has anything like it.

Seems cool.
Though half the reason I like to man the grill is so that I can drink beer, shoot the shite and not have to watch the kids or do other chores around the house.

Yeah, exactly. All the extra stuff comes with it. Don’t have to buy it separately like with the BGE.

Idk about you, but if I’m smoking a brisket overnight, the built in temperature controller would come in handy.

I don’t think y’all are quite grasping it.
The electric stuff isn’t really for like steaks or anything quick. I mean, the built in electric starter could be, sure. But if you have a ceramic grill you’re already using an electric starter probably. The temp control gauge would definitely come in handy for long, low and slow smokes.

Masterbuilt gravity series, came out 3 years ago. Same concept, half the price.

I think people aren’t that impressed because everything built into this cooker has been available for years separately and would work with almost any smoker. It’s definitely flashy but not such a huge leap technologically.
Does Kamado Joe do a backdraft fiery explosion when you open the lid like the BGE does?
