The only thing that gives me pause is that we are being pushed to accept it without knowing why it happens. We are talking about mind versus body which is something we may never truly understand. Of course, the thought of discriminating against these types of people is worrisome, but this is an area of the law where there really isn't an answer. The government shouldn't tell you how to feel in your mind. Asking a court to determine whether someone truly believes they are a man or woman is both impossible and inappropriate.

IIRC he never had genital removal surgery, so this shouldn't be that big of a deal.

That's true, but as a society, is it appropriate to "celebrate" his "choice", thereby encouraging other people to do the same, even though a high percentage of them are mentally ill and in pain?
Should judges force parents to recognize a child's desire to transition to a different gender as has been recently reported as having happened?
Look at the suicide rates. The issue for most people is not whether or not people should be treated with care and respect, but whether the culture and the government should force, not mere tolerance, but acceptance, of ANY individual who makes such a choice, ignoring in the process the mental illness inherent in many of these folks.

That is fricking awesome. Is this re: the crash where Bruce killed someone? Sucks for the legitimate transgendered people though. I'd be pissed if I was them. Used transgender-ism for his own personal gain and trivialized their lives. Now those against transgenders have Bruce/Caitlyn as backup to their assessment that it isn't "real".. which I don't believe to be true. It is real; Caitlyn/Bruce just took advantage of it.

whats crazy is, he left a reason for everyone on the left to hate him. through all of this shite, he stated that he was and still is a conservative. they are going to latch on to that and use that as a reason to bash him for this.

I'm probably the only person who has watched the Caitlyn show, but you're right. On the show, Caitlyn is traveling with all of these transgendered people making stops around the country, and they constantly fight with him/her because of how conservative he/she has remained.

The 7th Circuit (?) ruled that Title IX applied to transgendered persons.
