Justices rule LGBT people protected from job discrimination

“An employer who fires an individual for being homosexual or transgender fires that person for traits or actions it would not have questioned in members of a different sex,” Justice Neil Gorsuch wrote for the court. “Sex plays a necessary and undisguisable role in the decision, exactly what Title VII forbids.”

I actually don't think that you should be fired just for being gay.
I don't think businesses should have to kowtow to transgender people either. We won't make special concessions for you but by all means live the way you want.

I don't either but now the problem is if you fire a gay person because of poor performance you will potentially have to prove that was the real reason in court. It's just more of the Government interfering with a private business.

In 30+ years of practicing employment law, I've never had an employer remotely suggest that the employer did not want to hire gay men and women.
In a retail store that pays commissions (not many are left), a gay male working cosmetics usually makes a solid income.

I imagine that doesn't happen very often, but this will be used any time an LGBT person is fired for any reason.
The ruling makes sense, it's practice will be used as a weapon.
