That hotel will be condemned when this is over. They will never get the smell out.

Is the city going to pay the bill for all the bums breaking the “no smoking” policy?

Can you imagine the ones that have to stay and be quarantined and dont get their drugs and get dope sick..then start puking and shitting all over the rooms....

and the woman they start bleeding all over the place.....

The mentally ill ones that dont understand whats going on and start breaking windows to escape.

Hotel staff arent trained to tend to the homeless

Whos going to police and care for these people?

this is going to be a fricking disaster and whoever made this decision for the hotel needs better consultants.

Hopefully the hotel was able to negotiate a hefty sum from the city to do this. that way once this literal shite show is over they can dump the building and relocate.

I'd be willing to bet that Hilton is doing this so they can claim damages and use the insurance money to completely remodel

Sure they are. High level corporate CEO’s (believe me, people way up the Hilton food chain had to approve this) are not stupid. They don’t do anything without a larger goal for profit and stock value in mind. It’s what they do, and it’s why they make the kind of salary they make. There are charitable deductions in play, public relations, federal subsidies, and insurance payouts, among many other benefits long term.

much worse, the homeless are going to completely destroy those hotel rooms

That hotel has to have a renovation coming up, right? If it does, this is kind of brilliant to get the hotel up to capacity when it would otherwise be empty until being gutted and refurbished.

Otherwise, Hilton needs to fire that hotel's GM three weeks ago.

Exactly. They are going to profit heftly off of this.

I feel bad for the hotel employees though.

Can scratch Hilton Garden Inn off my preferred places to stay. I rather book a room in Harahan if it came to it.

at a time of "social distancing" they herd a bunch of people into a single building?

also

According to nola.gov, New Orleans has a rate of 302 people who are homeless or every 100,000 of its residents.

This is an amazing, real-time experiment we are about to conduct.

What happens when you feed and give shelter to the homeless, but don't change anything else?

Will that be the boost to turn their life around?

Or will they still have issues?

I have my suspicions but we are about to get some hard data.

I stayed there a few years ago for a relative's wedding. I thought it was a dump then. Can't imagine what it will be like when this is all over.

I especially feel sorry for the poor employees who will have to "serve" these "customers" for the next few weeks.

This is ridiculous, how can only one person use the elevator at a time? When I ring Room Service for fresh linens and syringes, how long will that take? I can’t even imagine how cold my Oyster Po-boy will be when it finally makes it to my room. This will not stand!!!

There is only one explanation for this on the Hotel's part, and that is they were planning to completely renovate it in the slow summer months anyway.

Now they can make some insurance claims and probably get some Fed money after this fiasco.

Because there is no way they can just let the general public stay in there after this is over. It will be completely and utterly trashed.
