He didn't remove a chance to repent. That's still totally up to the the man and his wife. When you cheat on your wife, you lose all control over when/if she finds out. It's always a risk. And, you know that before you do it. The guy who informed the wife bears ZERO responsibility.

My arse. It just gets easier. He'd be banging another broad the next chance given. And at the same time blaming the wife for her shortcomings.

Read the whole sad tale and its pretty clear that Friend Girl passed over Cowardly OP to sleep with Married Guy and Cowardly OP didn't have the balls to confront either of them about his bruised vagina so he took the most pathetic possible path and destroyed Innocent Wife Girl's life. Cowardly OP also sounds fat.

If my SO is cheating on me... and I don't know about it... we obviously have problems already whether I'm in denial of them or not. I don't need some stranger throwing himself in the middle of it just out of spite when he doesn't know shite about my life or my wife's life other than this one piece of information. If he knows me, then yes, I'd want to know from him. Other than that, know way he knows enough about me or the situation to think it's a good idea to put this out there like he did.

That doesn't make sense. Regardless of whether or not you should have known something wrong wrong, if it's a big deal for you to find out then the act of cheating is obviously a big deal.

You weren't harmed by the a-hole who told you. You were harmed by your SO.

But how is it the OP's call? He supposedly had nothing to gain by doing this. And he does not know the adulteree or the adulter. What business is it of his?

Really?

Night existed before this one where circumstances were the same, and we may assume that such sorrow was not felt? Was the man any less adulterous on those evenings?

I agree with this statement. Big part being the IF.

that relationship is now fighting quite the uphill battle based on information passed on from a person with zero vested interest in the entire extended dynamic.

Perhaps to was a horrible mistake. Perhaps he was in process of shutting it down. We do not know that. Now his destiny is not in his control.

Very sad all around.

Relationships are the epitome of a gray sitation, and the op made a very short-sighted black and white decision.

Intruding into a relationship like that never ever ends well for the guy who did the intruding. You better watch out because you're going to get your arse kicked and I'm dead serious. I beat the shite out of a guy in Athens because he tried to intervene in a drunken spat me and my girl was having after a football game. You're an idiot.

I'm failing to see why this matters. Let's assume (as I do) that he did it for his own selfish reasons.

He still did no harm to the woman. She's hurt because of what happened...not because he told her about it.
