Just stopped at a gas station in Ferriday

As we pull up, two shirtless youths with dreadlocks pull up on 4 wheelers with a boom box strapped to one of them.
At the other pump was a meth head yelling “C’mon man, turn the God damn pump on”. He didn’t have a car, just walked to the station with a gas can.
I hadn’t been up here in a couple years. Place is like a third-world country.

I’ve always wanted to go on a safari through that area just to see what it’s like. Is it better, worse, or the same as the really deplorable sections of the MS Delta?

About the same. It’s a head scratcher as to when towns like this even had a “ prime”. Much like the Texas panhandle.
