When I worked at UPS, regulations were 75 lbs and under were fine. Anything over 75 lbs was considered irregular (Ireg comin down the line!) and you were supposed to have two people lift it, but that doesn't ever happen. They have an upper limit on what they'll deliver through non-freight lines. Might have been 150, but I can't remember.

The problem with the heavy boxes is they throw off your stacking in the back of the trucks. Heavy stuff obviously goes at the bottom, but sometimes you'd fill your bottom and you'd have to start stacking heavy boxes. This caused boxes on the bottom to deform and it'd really screw up you ability to cram in the minimum number of boxes. At the Port Allen facility the worst offender was Lamar. Their truck would always come in last and those signs weighed right at the 75 lb limit. The problem was the boxes were only half full, so it was impossible to stack without crushing every box. It was a good thing those signs were hard to destroy, because we sure as hell would have the way we stacked them.

The driver has no excuse for complaining about heavy boxes. He has a dolly in the truck.

As someone said, they probably have lots of heavy stuff. This is likely a neighbor prank.
