Louisiana State Police reported I-55 North is closed near Ruddock due to a crash involving a trooper.

Witnesses said the trooper is a woman.

Officials said a trooper was hit while assisting the driver of a vehicle that had broken down. They added as the trooper was walking along the shoulder, her unit was rear-ended. Investigators said the impact caused the trooper's unit to spin and hit her. They added she was flown to the hospital by helicopter with moderate injuries.

I'm assuming the LSP vehicle was parked on the right hand shoulder. If this is the case, the car that hit her didn't simply just clip her. It was completely in the right shoulder when it hit her to cause that type of damage.

No it had to have been on the left shoulder.

Had it been struck on the right shoulder it would have spun off the right side of the road.

If she was indeed parked on the left hand shoulder she was definitely sticking out in the road

That's why I think they should pass a law that if pulled over you shouldn't pull over on the side of the road. You should pull off at the next exit of on interstate and parking lot if on a main road.

Or the dumbshits that drive in Louisiana could just half half a nugget of courtesy when they're behind the wheel....

where people will just whip over in the left lane because "it's the law"

Idiot truckers aggressively do this for their stupid "brother truckers" who have broken down, even if the trucker is well off the road.

No excuse for hitting a vehicle with flashing lights, hope she is OK.

You do realize that the air being pushed off the side of those trailers is enough to knock a person down, right? I've seen it happen before - hence why they slow down or move over if they can. Sorry you had to touch your brake pedal and lose 3 seconds of your life.

Lol.

They do it to be pissants, that's it.

The idiot that broke down has enough sense to be way the hell off the road, no "air" is gonna knock him down.

Driving something that weighs 80K+ calls for using common sense and a lot of those guys don't have it.

considering that they have to go through some training for licensing and certifications, in my opinion, truck drivers are some of the worst drivers on the road and most seem to pretty big douches as well

People drive into the back of cars on the shoulder all the time. It's like they see the car or tail lights and mindlessly "follow" the car right into it.

I grew up with a guy who lost his legs and half his mind when someone slammed into his parked car while he was trying to help a broken down motorist.

If I have a flat on the interstate, I will keep rolling to an exit if at all possible, tire and wheel be damned.

It's called "Blue Light Hypnosis" and they have done studies on it. People fixate on the flashing lights and trying to see what is going on all while subconsciously steering towards the source of interest. They used to teach about this in Drivers Ed. You are supposed to recognize and mentally note the area but not stare at it.
