I have to leave them in for 5 minutes to gauge my pain level.

I was mildly hypoxic(?) I think after results of sleep study so I was recommended appliances over CPAP.

I'm pretty excited and hope this works! I had 34 'events' where I stopped breathing overnight which seems like a lot to me but they said it put me in the mild category.

If I'm interrupting my sleep 34x a night it's no wonder I've been waking up tired!

Anyone else with sleeping problems have experience with dental appliance?

2 clear trays that pull my jaw forward.. Looks more like bleach trays than anything. Apparently they created 3-4 different molds when they sent them off that pull my bottom jaw forward different amounts.

I'll try it for 2 weeks then will bring an at-home sleep study device to test me again and see if it cured or significantly reduced the problems.

Are you still hooked up to the gas or did you mean to post all of that?

Watch for changes with your bite. If you notice that, then let them know earlier rather than later.

Good Luck, I have been using CPAP for a year now, it has helped significantly my test was 60 events per hour which I was told is extreme. My wife can now enjoy her insomnia in peace.

By the way I am not overweight

Would you please report back on this after you use it for a while? I am more interested in the snoring thing. Girlfriend may murder me in my sleep if I don't do something.

dental appliance for Apnea

Eh, will work if it's very mild apnea. Also needs to be obstructive and not central. Usually only effective up to an AHI of 15.

You'll be fine then if they were all obstructive. I scored a study last week with an AHI of 124.7. Yours is 5 or less.

Good luck, let us know if it makes a difference.

You'd be surprised how bad some people are. It's not just fatties either. I've done tests on 110 pound cheerleaders that can be heard snoring through 4 walls.

My husband won't get tested but he "breathes funny" and truly snores at times. IDK how he wakes up rested.

Tell him that some dentists and doctors have "take at home" sleep study devices now that you drop off the next day and are scored by his primary or a sleep study specialist recommended by his doctor. No more sleeping in a lab to get the data back.

He needs to do this if he cares about himself or his family. There are so many bad things that come from poor sleep.

Eta the device I used was brand new and about the size of a shaving kit. It contained a finger pulse detector, heart monitor you wear around your chest that does some other things too and a thin tube you put under your nose.

Sure it's uncomfortable as hell but it's just one night and could save your life...
