I transferred to the local public school which was maybe 15-20% black at the time. I remember when the OJ verdict was announced and I wasn't sure wtf was going on. Kids dancing on the tables in the lunch room etc

I went to public school k-5th then 9-12th.
Junior high was in an old building that was three stories with no elevator and huge steps to get in so my only option was to go to a Catholic school for those years. I hated Catholic school.
At public school it was almost 50/50. I think it was something like 52% white.
There used to be some race related issues every once in awhile but not often. If a white and black got in a fight it was for the same reasons a white and white or black and black got in a fight. Just stupid shite and whoever lost got laughed at.
I seen a fight between a white dude and black dude... Because the white dude stole the black dudes shoes.
We had teachers who would cuss you out in a heart beat. I had an English teacher who told someone in my class that his daddy should have shot his load in the wall.
Compared to today's standards it was the wild wild west. We had to go through metal detectors when going to the football and basketball games.. And every once in awhile they would have to set them up at school.. Every once in awhile they would bring the drug dogs in..
its funny to think back at what we thought was normal.

I quit going to Target when they decided a 50-year-old man in a dress could take a piss next to my 10-year-old. that was about 4 years ago. Other than having a gift card once, I haven't been back since, and I don't regret it.
