A pasty ginger shouldn't be out in the sun.

My Son swam in Junior Olympics a few months back and I was surprised at the amount of black kids swimming. Come to think of it, I didnt see any gingers.

My mother and father met as lifeguards at the HPL pool when in college at LSU. We were all taking swim lessons in that same pool when we were 2 years old.

I can whistle as in whistling a song. But I've always wanted to do the powerful "alert" whistle where you put your finger to your lips and make a loud arse whistle that can be heard 100 yards away. Every baw from my dad's generation could do it. I've tried and cannot.

I can do that loud whistle, but I never learned to do it with my fingers. I think fingerless is the way to go. I mean what if you're at the barn and you have horse shite on your hands and you need to do the loud whistle?
Not to disparage that age of folks... I'm likely one of them.

I just checked a map that I have... All states now have water.
When was it last updated? A lot of States have been dealing with droughts from time to time over the years

You frickers know what I'm talking about. In Louisiana we border a gulf and are bisected by our continent's biggest river and have marsh, bayous, and rivers throughout.
Louisiana is ranked fifth for most water by area, above Texas at 8th. At the bottom you have midwest and southwest states that have minimal lakes and rivers. I could see someone growing up in Nevada or Kansas and not having a real need to learn to swim.

I’ve never understood people that can’t swim
Yeah it’s pretty dumb to not at least teach survival swimming. Our kids were fish by 18 months. As infants they could get to pool wall, and wall walk to safety. The Y typically offers this for free, I’m sure most swim places do it too. Or ask a friend. Or do it yourself.
(One of our teens is a swim teacher and they do this class)

There is a direct correlation between not tipping your server and being able to swim. It seems if you don't tip, it's unlikely that you can swim.

You must be a fricking mind reader. Who else was thinking the same thing? I'll be the first to admit it...

My ex brother-in-law joined the Coast Guard right out of high school, probably 50-60 years ago. Couldn't swim a lick. On the day of his physical, they were required to swim the length of the olympic size pool at the training center. He jumped in with everybody else, then the instructor turned around to talk to someone. He climbed out of the pool, ran around to the other end, and slid back in. The instructor turned around, saw everybody in the water at the other end, and said everybody passes. He was in for 4 years.
