Just for fun, I checked airline pricing for flights

I haven’t flown much in the last decade, but recently that changed - I booked 3 domestic flights in the last 2 months - 2 trips to take my son to check out colleges and one flight to bring my daughter to my dad’s 81st birthday
With Spirit gone, we’ve heard that prices are certainly going up - right?
Wrong - all 3 flights are the same price or within $20 of what I recently booked
Hopefully that continues - we may see price increases based on fuel costs; but it does not look like Spirit failing is having much of an impact so far…

the lost cost carriers are just a gnat on the arse of the legit airlines, they may have minor impact in some small markets but they don't move the needle in the grand scheme of things, air fare prices in general are high right now, typical for the upcoming vacation season

We flew to Mexico a couple months ago for a wedding with American. While we were flying the stewardess came by with a promotion with Citi credit card. You sign up while in flight and spend 1k dollars within 3 months you get 80k miles. I did , cane back brought a few things and I paid it off Got my 80k miles, not a bad deal

It already has. Check flights multiple times a day and it’ll start going up. Clear your cache and web history and it goes back to original prices.

domestic flights are up 8% and international flights are up 40% since February based on an article I read on Friday

BTR to DFW is outrageous, but I pay it anyway.
For some reason BTR has less flights for all three airlines now.
Anyone know why?

Checking flights for two to UK this fall (for golf, avoiding cities where possible). Prices seemed way higher than 6 mo ago- Google says average 40% increase since Iranian conflict

I think the real damage will be when someone at your gate is about to pick up one of those retractable belt barrier things and smack you right in the fricking head with it.
Or talk on a cellphone the entire duration of your flight. Or play music out the cellphone's speakers on your flight. Or brings an entire steamed crab dinner on your flight.
There's a place for Spirit Airlines. Now that place is about to be mixed in with Delta, United and American. So watch your six. It's about to get a lot more interesting.

You have three choices for living at a shitty mid market airport to connect. ATL, DFW, and IAH. You have nearly no choices, and you pay for it.
