Don’t listen to them. Marriage can be great if you do it right. It’s not like having a wife is just a big burden. If she’s the right girl and you don’t act like a fool, she’ll bring her own assets to the group and you’ll be stronger together.
I always tell couples the hardest thing about marriage is sacrifice. When you’re married, every decisions you make or dollar you spend has to be for the good of the family. Most people are used to looking out for just themselves. It’s a big change and takes a while to adjust.
Trust me, Take care of her and she’ll take care of you. Don’t be selfish, she’ll notice, and eventually you’ll get in a groove were you have a strong partnership that makes your life better.
