Get a big dog, and maybe a system that makes noises for fire/break in/monoxide. I would have a hard time picking up a monthly fee for a security company that would just call the cops if something goes wrong.

With a hardwire system you have to keep phone service or pay extra for cell service.
You would still use a cell communicator with a wireless system. If you already have wires ran hardwired is the best route. Wireless systems are very popular now and everyone is a security dealer. You can even buy online. I would personally use a local dealer. Look into the 2gig system.

Might I suggest moving to a safer area.

Edit- already own 7 handguns
Schedule guns on your homeowners policy. Some policies limit amount of coverage on guns.

Go to Petsmart on Saturdays. Plenty of alarm systems right out front. Will run about $100, plus 30 bucks or so for a bag of food.

They are actually adding a camera to their system very soon.
I'd give an another recommendation for simplisafe.

A large outdoor dog that hates all people but your family, a basic alarm system under no contract/ self installed unmonitored and a basic video monitoring system (can be found for under 300$) should cover all the basic needs and then some.

If you have to have an alarm. Look into Tattle Tale or Simply Safe. ADT and the like are for suckers.

If you ever watch the TV shows that have some story about a home invasion, robbery or whatever, there never seems to be a big arse dog mentioned in any story. Dogs, especially a big dog, are a serious deterrent. First, they're natural tendencies are to protect. They truly believe this is their job, so they're usually alert to any abnormal noises and movements around your property. They WILL let the abnormal noise or movement know they know they're there. Thieves don't want confrontation. They move on when there's a dog.
If the idiot continues to try to enter the property, the dog's willingness to protect you will give you additional time to retrieve a gun or other device. Get a dog.
Next, invest in a good security system without contracts. As others have mentioned, the sign alone is a deterrent. Get a couple of crazy arse strobes that will blow the intruder's mind if they set off the alarm system. It's unexpected and they won't know what the hell is happening. They're immediately taken out of their criminal mindset and will most likely flee at that time.
Lastly, build a safe room, even if it's just an old closet made to look like a book shelf. Search book self safe room for ideas. Have weapons, communications, food (and water) and a non-interruptible electricity source (if possible) in the safe room.
None of this is overly expensive to do to protect yourself and family. Just some ideas. Sleep well.

Platoon Early Warning System at property line
Bouncing betty's in the yard
C4 in the door frames
Clawmores in the hallways, clackers in each room
Gun on your side 24/7
Maintain 50% security
Keep your house dark at all times and advertise that you have nice things. Lure people onto your property. Destroy them with bouncing betty's. Do society a favor.
Save the C4 and claymores for when they come for your guns.
