In a lot of ways, I wish we could go back to those days. I try to utilize something like that any time I see it.

Girl I went to school with has a hair salon in town, they do the old fashioned including a straight razor shave and a hot towel if you're so inclined, $15. I'm always so inclined.

I use a zip tie when I come across a pump without a latch. Fill up and put it back. I don’t feel bad for the next person that uses that pump either.

I used to leave the pump "unattended" and do other things, until one time the automatic shutoff on the nozzle didn't work. I walked outside and saw gas pouring out of my tank and a big ol puddle of gas under my truck. The pressure broke off the little metal internal gas cap too. That was about a $30 piss and Diet Coke.

Hang on. Let me ask the chauffeur...

Jeeves says you're being lazy AND legitimately annoying.

Grinds my gears when the gas pump doesn’t have the latch that keeps the pump pumping without you having to hold it. Am I just lazy or is this legitimately annoying?

The worst part is knowing that the longer contact with the handle means more AIDS can soak into my hand.

You are not alone. This shite is one of my biggest pet peeves. Also, the lazy assholes in this State that refuse to maintain the squeegie system. In every other State Ive been in(sans MS) there is a squeegie in every container, the squeegie is in good condition and there is clean fluid and solution in it.

Doubly annoying because we live in the land of bugs.

This happened to me too. I went in and bitched about it and the girl acted like it was my fault. Nevermind that the fricking pump handles are designed for this.

I imagine station owners here, in typical LA fashion, buy the cheapest Chinese pump handles they can find, never replace them, the fill-up safety inevitably fails in short order, gas gets spilled everywhere so they rip the trigger stay out of the handle and force customers to sit there holding the trigger down while their S-L-O-W arse pump struggles to squeeze gas into our tanks(also likely a result of their cheapness not buying quality equipment/keeping it too long/not maintaining it properly), some vehicles having huge tanks like the many baws in LA that drive big pickups.

They also refuse to maintain the receipt machines. One Chevron by my house, which I WILL name because I hate those frickers; J & S Chevron in Lacombe, listened to me complain about it for literally FIVE fricking years and outright refused to fix the receipt machine. It probably only needed paper. Thats how lazy frickers are here.

I've actually posted about this on here before, but I continue to find it fascinating how the chances of getting a gas pump without this functioning seems to proportionally increase in relation to how ghetto the gas station is.

Why is that? What are people doing to gas pumps in ghetto areas that seem to cause this to proliferate so much versus non ghetto areas?

You have a gas cap? You must be a poor.
