Will this Smollett thing be a part of Black History Month going forward?

Or is it only good history for minorities and bad, racist history for whites?

She’s not going to apologize she’s going to keep pushing that agenda because it fuels her trip to the White House.

This case will not go to trial.

He sounded like he wanted to be reimbursed for time and resources spent to solve this.

And it won't happen so I wish everyone would stop asking or wondering if he'll pay them.

He won't and he won't have to.

Wrong

quote:

Could Smollett actually face jail time? Yes. The charge for filing a false police report is a felony in Illinois. Technically, it’s considered a Class 4 felony, the least serious of all possible felony charges, but it still carries a sentence ranging from one to three years in prison and fines up to $25,000

. In order to charge Smollett, the investigators needed to prove to the grand jury that he knowingly lied about the incident to police, which resulted in a false police report. The actor could also be forced to pay restitution for the cost of the investigation, which, given the high-profile nature of the case, could be substantial. As this case moves forward, prosecutors could also consider adding an obstruction of justice charge, which basically means that Smollett would be accused of “knowingly” resisting or obstructing the work of an investigator. This could also carry jail time.

quote:

Can Smollett get into even more legal trouble for faking a letter? Smollett could be charged with federal mail fraud, which carries its own set of criminal charges beyond what he’s facing in the state of Illinois. To be convicted of mail fraud, a prosecutor would need to prove that the actor intended to perform a fraudulent act and that he used the mail purposely to execute it.

I hope it does, but it won't. The money sucking, crack team of attorneys Jussie hired will drain him until the last drop.

Which will bury this story in the coming months, and when it's deemed fit, a plea will be had.

It's an indictment of how shite the US legal system is.

City wastes resources, attorneys get paid. Nothing to see here.

I'm assuming he will get help paying for the attorneys.

I say it won't go because they have everything on him, including the brothers, and "he" knows it. The prosecuting attorney will say they have his balls in a sling....go to trial and they will recommend 1 year, max allowed. His attorneys will make every effort for zero jail time. They know what is standard for such cases. It's a weak arse felony. I'm hoping the city wants some jail time but if so it won't be much and he will get his own cell and not in the bunkhouse.

The city also doesn't have the time for trial. If they can get a plea that satisfies them they'll take it.

Prosecuting attorneys in that city will always have a full docket. They need to work on staying on top of the never ending cases coming in.

Eta....

Been away most of the day so haven’t been able to follow much of the coverage since the arrest.

Anyone on the left walk back their rush to judgement statements today?

I'm under the assumption that every child actor was sexually abused.

I see people comparing this to BBQ Becky and why wasn't she charged with a felony?

I didn't see where she bought BBQ pits and staged them around a park and then hired people to cook on them. All so she could showcase her racism and file a false police report.
