Other information says it was five minutes after takeoff.
Maybe they were just five minutes from leaving the gate.
I fly a lot, and pretty much every plane these days takes off and gets to altitude pretty quickly.
That plane looked like it was struggling for lift and was barely above the treetops when being filmed.
RIP to all who perished.

I'm going to speculate that it was a bird strike upon take off that took out both engines.

Seeing on X there was someone in seat 11A that survived unscathed. Remarkable if true.

I will say there is 99.99% chance that is incorrect. Hopefully it is though

I have a hard time believing they took off without flaps extended.
Same. Looks like there is barely any lift/power issue

Maybe an auto throttle issue?
I’ll defer to Blancolirio on YouTube. He usually gets it right and knows the specific systems.
Few months ago a cargo 737 went down because rookie first officer flipped off the hydraulics instead of the anti-ice. The panels are right next to each other.

How was the weather at the time? Microburst?

Yikes, that's pretty much my worst fear that runs through my mind prior to takeoff every time I fly

I always tell people freaking out about turbulence that there's basically zero chance of anything bad happening to the plane at cruising altitude.
I generally leave out that if the plane's going to crash, it's almost certainly going to do so within minutes of taking off or landing, as that doesn't seem helpful

Pretty much exactly how I explained things to my kids on their first flights

If tweet fails to load, click here. Still can’t tell if flaps are extended or not. But seems irrelevant. Aircraft was accelerating very slowly and almost used all the runway just to get airborne. You can see dirt blown up at the end of the pavement.
No doubt they had a thrust issue. Birds unlikely. But why wasn’t the takeoff aborted is now the question.
Could also be an issue with V-speed programming into the flight computer.

Taking off from São Paulo is pretty nerve racking.

Dust cloud seems to indicate that it has some thrust? Why not pull the gear up, level out the climb, start dumping fuel, try to get light and try to get speed?
It seems to have been pitched way up and not trying to get light and skinny for something with a thrust problem.
CreDentals: I heard someone talk about playing DCS once.

I remember flying into MDW once and we hit some turbulence and this older lanext to me grabbed my hand. I looked at her and she was white as a ghost. I asked her if she was nervous and she said yes. I told her to hold my hand if I panic then she should panic. Her death grip never eased but she did thank me after the flight.

If tweet fails to load, click here. This video is making rounds claiming it's the guy who was seated in the exit row and survived. I'm calling BS
