The Taliban says it now controls 85% of Afghanistan.

This country is going to down faster than Harris on Big Willie Brown.

We should have never been there longer than to try to kill Bin Laden. No more “nation building.”

I only wish that Donald Rumsfeld was still alive to have his nose rubbed in it.

Good. Everyone involved in our decision making in Afghanistan for the last twenty years needs to see it and truly understand how stupid they are to have done this….again.

Those involved in these decisions for the last twenty years not named Trump are celebrating their asses off right now. Ka-Ching, ka-Ching.

I don’t think so. The Taliban aren’t going to attack Americans—at least not yet. It’s a condition of our withdrawal. I believe we left a few hundred troops on the ground to guard the embassy.

We’re going to just sit back and let them have it.

ETA: LO fricking L at the Afghan people and the Afghan security forces. I thought no civilization/its military would be more cowardly and shameful than the Iraqi army in 2014, but this seems to have topped it. They don’t deserve freedom, liberty, or any western ideals. They aren’t willing to fight for it.

This causes me two thoughts.
1) I'm truly sad for all the young men and women who lost their lives there. I want them back. All of them. A damn shame.

2) Of lesser significance, but still... I want all of my tax dollars back that they wasted in that shite hole.

We could have achieved whatever little we achieved with just air strikes after 9/11. Plus we wouldn’t have the opioid epidemic from guarding the poppy fields and bringing them back home.

Politically yes, but militarily it has to be different than Vietnam.

Actually the Taliban said if US Troops are still on Afghanistan soil then they will treat them as if they are invaders and will suffer the fate that other invaders have suffered. Even the Embassy staff is begging the US to pull them out right now.

If only there had been some good historical examples to guide our leaders, we might have avoided this. Perhaps then we would not have involved ourselves in the conflicts of Afghanistan, or dumped trillions into a pointless and unwinnable war.

Hey, at least we know now, right?

Democrats will sacrifice them for political points.
