how much extra deposits can we tap in the US and Canada? (When I was in engineering school 20-30 years ago, they were forecasting peak oil around the 2030s, but I know since shale blew up and more deposits were found that's no longer a good estimate.) I ask because it seems like the best way to frick Putin over and add some cushion to the price oil is to drill a shite ton of it here.
You mean pursue energy independence? What kind of crazy, crack smoking talk is that?

they straight up say it isn't working.
So I guess this is what it feels like to lose a proxy war.

The Group of Seven nations are hammering out a complicated mechanism to cap the price fetched by Russian oil in a bid to tighten the screws on Vladimir Putin’s war machine in Ukraine.
But given Moscow’s robust fiscal position, the nation can afford to slash daily crude production by 5 million barrels without excessively damaging the economy, JPMorgan analysts including Natasha Kaneva wrote in a note to clients.

But don’t you dare bring that up in the main thread where they’re LARPing as if this were a game of Call of Duty, because if you do then you’re automatically a Putin supporter.

Will there be enough f450s to go around?

We really only sanctioned ourselves, which was the plan all along. Russia/Ukraine was just cover.

Instead of tightening the screws on Putin he should loosen the regulatory screws on domestic production and refinement. It’s a simple solution but doesn’t fit their agenda.
I’ve been saying this since the start of this stupid war. All the sanctions and embargos do is drive up the price of oil on the world market. High oil prices help Russia. If Biden really wanted to hurt Russia he’d have stopped his insane energy policies and unleashed American oil production at full bore, flood the market in an ocean of oil to drive down the price. This would both hurt Russia and help the American economy. Instead that idiot is helping Russia make hundreds of billions in extra oil revenue while driving the US economy off a cliff.

Here’s why this is a good thing.

It doesn't matter because the Biden Admin won't open drilling up.
The lefties love this because they see it as a way to force the Green New Deal on people.

but i thought we were not buying russian crude? how could this be?
Posted on 7/2/22 at 4:03 pm to michael corleone
It will be a shame if it goes that high. But that may be the only thing that wakes up some of these Democrat supporters. The dims are doing this intentionally by design. The Liberal Communist New World Order demands it.

Yep.
Takes a while to turn the spigot on but easily doable and has to be sustained.
And tell the Saudi's to get on the train or we'll let Iran bomb their arse.

Or the fricking US could wake the frick up and pump more oil, instead of allowing Russia and Middle East to control the market and make bank.

You don't understand. We won't produce more oil/gas here because the dems want you to drive an electric car/truck/lawn mower
Half the population refuses to acknowledge this. Our gas price problem is 90% intentionally self inflicted. You're fricking psychotic if you believe that Russia is single handedly powerful enough to crush the American consumer as a byproduct of their regional conflict.

Biden approval could be headed to the 20's which is unfathomable with the cover the MSM and Big Tech has given him. He was at 31% in a recent national poll (albeit a right-leaning one... although those have been more accurate since 2016).

Nope. And don’t look for any change soon…

The Biden administration did not give an explanation after it missed its own deadline to plan future oil and gas lease sales Thursday.
quote:
Interior Secretary Deb Haaland vowed during a Senate hearing on May 19 to issue a legally-mandated program outlining proposed offshore lease sales over the next five years by Thursday. On Wednesday, Interior Department (DOI) spokesperson Melissa Schwartz confirmed the agency was "on track" to issue the plan by Thursday, according to E&E News.
Schwartz declined to comment on the delay in response to a Fox News Digital inquiry. The White House did not respond to a request for comment..
quote:
Under the 1953 Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act, the DOI is required to periodically issue five-year plans for offshore oil and gas lease sales. Historically, the plans have been issued on time by Democratic and Republican administrations and have included more than 10 lease sales stretching across federal waters in the Gulf of Mexico, Pacific, Atlantic and off the coast of Alaska.
quote:
The most recent plan, which went into effect in 2017, expired on Thursday. Without a plan, offshore lease sales, which produced more than 1.7 million barrels of oil per day last year, cannot be held.
quote:
Since taking office, the Biden administration has held a single offshore sale which was subsequently tossed by a federal court on environmental grounds. The administration canceled three other sales listed in the now-expired plan.

If not for sanctions against Russia there would be little to no effect on our economy or gas prices.
It's really dumb to kill your own economy by virtue signaling.
