He’s the master of tearing down mental blocks and exposing it to the public.

Yeah, I listened to this podcast today. She tried to put him in a box for 50 minutes, and he had none of it.

Identity politics will be the driving force behind this country's destruction.

I realize there’s a bit of availability bias coming into play, but good lord, most of the interviewers I’ve seen with him have been utter dipshits.

Compare that interview with this debate with Michael Eric Dyson, a markedly more intelligent person than that woman, about white privilege. You can tell that Dyson actually did challenge him there in an odd way.

Also, couldn’t disagree more here. Unless you mean he challenged him by subverting the conversation and playing to a dumb, talking point-fueled audience. Dyson is a complete hack.

Jordan Peterson is not brilliant by any stretch of the imagination. He's a pseudo intellectual who throws together a fancy word salad duping some into believing he knows what he's talking about but he really doesn't if you actually listen to what he's saying. The fact that people think he's this great modern philosopher is hilarious and somewhat sad.

You misspelled "Micheal Eric Dyson".

So, do you disagree w/ his point about more egalitarian societies tend to have even greater differences in the jobs men and women choose?

Could you give me an example a point he makes that you believe to be invalid? Personally, I think much of what he says about archetypal stories is hand-wavy but he’s clearly quite intelligent.

He has enough knowledge, experience and common sense to make 95% of people look foolish. Most people argue with nothing but soundbite intelligence and emotion. Rational thought always makes half cocked emotional ideology look foolish.

I would actually like to know more about this.

Agreed. That’s why I really enjoy juxtaposing his lectures with Sam Harris’s - because Sam isn’t part of that 95%. Their discussions on the Waking Up podcast are great.

What word salad? Almost everything he says is accessible to a layman and without obfuscation. His points, while nothing groundbreaking in terms of human understanding, are salient and at least a refreshing rebuttal to the constant onslaught of groupthink.

No one thinks he is a philosopher.

But, when he breaks it down, it makes all the sense in the world.

What’s a little ironic to me is that he uses psychology and psychological data to explicate non-partisan reality (if you will) which is mostly in defense of people who bash psychology for being a pseudoscience .
