Johnson on first week as Speaker: ‘This is like an F5 hurricane’
Sarah Fortinsky
Newly elected Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) compared his first full week as the top-ranking member of the House to an intense hurricane, in remarks to reporters Thursday.
“Well, I’m from Louisiana,” Johnson said at his first official press conference as Speaker, when asked how his first week has been. “So I describe everything in either football or hurricane metaphors.”
“Let me say, this is like an F5 hurricane,” he continued. “It’s been a whirlwind, but in a great way.”
An F5 storm refers to the highest category a tornado can reach on the Fujita Damage Intensity Scale, also called an “incredible tornado,” which ranges from 261 to 318 mph, according to the National Weather Service
I know Shreveport is just East Texas, but at least he should know the difference between hurricanes and tornadoes.

Friend,
To be fair, the NHC and pretty much every meteorologist missed the growth from a TS to a Cat 5 hurricane in twelve hours last week. Meteorology nowadays is nothing but letting computer programs spit out info. There is no art in it anymore.
Yours,
TulaneLSU
P.S. The lingo of meteorology is today ridiculous. The most infuriating, besides the absurd overuse of abbreviations, is the misuse of the word verify.

I'm from Alabama, where we've had tornadoes that were a 5.0 on the Richter Scale.

Well I’m from louisiana and I have never heard anyone refer to a Hurricane with an “f” designation instead of a “cat” designation. Ever.

Friend,
Democrats and Republicans have two things in common, they're both stupid and care nothing about any of us.

The dude has been a rockstar and maybe the most promising Louisiana politician ever with a strong base on conservative Christian values.
South Louisiana should be grateful that they're associated with him

Oh no! He misspoke. He should be removed from office immediately!!! I swear what passes as “news” now wouldn’t have been fit for tabloids in the 90s.

Hope he runs for President one day. He's got my vote

I can only imagine how stupid most of y'all would sound if, literally, every word you uttered publicly was scrutinized by people who range from disliking you, to hating you, and to wishing you would die.
He messed up and saif F-5 and not Cat-5...how will you ever go on?!?!?!

Maybe he can finally pass a law that they can’t move the cone anymore.

Wish a category 100 and F100 would hit Washington at same time, as a Tsunami breaks on top of all of their heads. And washes the surviving politicians swiftly out into the ocean for the waiting shark attack.

Politicians have never been the smartest among us. They are just highly motivated and able to lie well.
