John Hopkins is rated #7 in the UNSWR academic rankings, which I think is just based on undergrad.

UNSWR is pretty much considered a dogshit ranking by people who are actually in academia, but it's what most of the public uses to judge undergraduate colleges.

You just made my point for me

LSU next please

LSU still hasn’t released their fall 2025 demo data…. Definitely because of how hbcu it is.

The undergrad johns hopkins is an overpriced overrated school

While I cannot speak for undergrad, got my MPH from Johns Hopkins and will get my Doctorate from there. It was a very rigorous program. US World News has it rated as number 7. I'm having a hard time seeing how you find it overrated.

My daughter's M1 med school class has a lot of Indians.

Guess they are also classify as Asians?

ETA: Also my younger daughter is a high school junior, she got a letter from Hopkins after she scored a 35 on her ACT... which is average ACT for Hopkins acceptance according to her letter.

People forget that affirmative action wasn't just about race. It was about geography, income, first-gen status. Remove it and the student body shifts back to wealthy kids from good zip codes. That's what these charts show. Not opinion. Just data.

I have a son who graduated from a US News Top 5 school last May. No one in my family has ever gradated from a private university before. I'm not wealthy. We didn't buy a building or use our contacts to secure a pardon for the dean's nephew.

My son was not alone. There are a lot of non-rich, self-motivated really bright kids at this university. People freak out about college admissions because, in their eyes, their kid who once got a 94 on a science test should cakewalk into an IvyPlus university. People don't want to come to terms with the fact that their kid likely isn't in the top 1% of intelligence, so they look for any and every excuse, rather than accepting the truth.

AND exceptional > 99% ACT and SAT scores.

Most wealthy kids from good zip codes that are unqualified for entrance.

All the Nola and north BR “scholars” who got into Ivy and Ivy adjacent schools with unremarkable academic records due to AA will now go to LSU

Exactly! And they will be happier because they will not be outclassed.

Yes and no.

I see a bunch of people who would go to a better school than LSU coming here now but, HOPEFULLY, the low end enrollees start being told to buzz off.

Matching the student up to the proper level of school is better for everyone involved, as kids who are at the right level are more likely to hack it than to go to a higher level school and get a BS “studies” degree because they can’t deal with real claases.

People celebrating now will be complaining when the top schools are 90% Asian and about how poor whitey is getting screwed in admissions.

I can deal with kids who have 4.0 or better GPAs and perfect SATs getting those spots.

But following your logic, weren't 'poor whitey' getting screwed anyway with affirmative action?

Not as much. Black enrollment dropped from 10% to 3%, but Asian enrollment rose from 26% to 45%. Most of those spots were probably taken from whites.

Yep. Only merit should matter.
