When I was a kid, my buddies and I would walk to Johnny's on Gilbert, order two large pepperonis and play Free Bird on the juke box. Great times. RIP Johnny. May your product reign supreme forever.

I'm not saying Johnny's is bad. It's just regular pizza to me. I think it's more of a nostalgia thing for North LA people. Kind of like Texans and Whataburger. It's also ok but nothing special.

Found that out with their experiment into Houston. Most folks just didn't take to it like they do in North LA. The upside to having one here was you would occasionally see someone from back home you hadn't seen in 10 years that got pulled in there like a tractor beam.

i have relatives who maintain that area.

i've been known to show up with 30-40 empty gallon jugs and fill them up.

its the clearest, most delicious water you'll ever drink.

i cant tell you how many people i've taken are skeptical when i just fill up a jug from outdoor running water and immediately start to chug it.

Google Maps

quote:

The Elgin Springs artesian well is one of the rare open running springs in the Sparta Aquifer. The Sparta Aquifer covers a large portion of North Louisiana and is the main source of ground water for our area.

In fact in Louisiana, ground water is the primary source of drinking water for 61% of Louisiana residents. As many of the residents of our area know, the Sparta Aquifer is being stressed by the amount of water usage from the numerous cities, towns, businesses and the citizens. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, current use from the aquifer is 64 million gallons per day while break-even usage is 52 million gallons per day. And this is where the drinking water for 15 North Louisiana parishes comes from. A recent government survey points to at least 36 states that expect to experience local, regional or statewide water shortages by 2013. The answer to the problem that North Louisiana is experiencing with the loss of water in the Sparta aquifer as well as in those other 36 states is to utilize water more efficiently and practice better water conservation.

Don't blink or you'll miss it. Note the half-tree-covered sign.

Park on the side of the road, walk down with some empty jugs (I recommend bringing 5-10 at least if you're making the effort to go by here) and enjoy the coldest, clearest, best tasting water you've ever put in your mouth.

Just had some from the Highland Rd. location for the game last night. I highly recommend requesting brick-oven style Sweep the Kitchen. Whoever said Johnny's is the best low-tier pizza was spot-on. RIP Johnny

Rip Johnny. Thank you for your pizza business. I have many fond memories growing up eating at your stores after ballgames, birthday parties, etc.
