also said he was MD Anderson for treatment and had a litany of health problems he'd ignored over the years.
the experience with his kid must've left a really bad impression on him.

If I remember correctly they listed the cause of death in his son’s obit as poisoning by cancer treatment drugs.

He was at MD Anderson to get scans done, but never got to that point. No diagnosis of cancer was made, but suspected. Also many other ailments and issues existed that he either toughed through or ignored. Never wanted to go to see doctors or hear what they had to say. Steve said being that he drove straight to the ER after his last day of work, should have told them it must have been really bad.
I’ve had people in my family go down this same exact path, and it has taught me a valuable lesson - as much as you may hate to do it, if something doesn’t feel right, go get it checked out. Health is your most important asset.

Way too political so I’m glad the show is over
You know there's a knob on your radio to be able to change the station, right?

Hate to hear that. Moved to BR in 92 and started listening to their show on the Eagle. They cracked me up with their ribauld humor. John will be missed. So many complain about their "bitterness" in the Obama years, but I didn't see it that way. Obama just gave them lots of ammo to use and they did it in a humorous way.

Always refreshing to have someone say what they believe with no fear of the PC folks and mainstream media. Reminds me of our fearless President who doesn't give a flip what anyone thinks as he doesn't need their money.

So he probably had cancer, but was never diagnosed because of his mistrust for doctors?

don't know if was mistrust or disdain, but I know a few doctors that say they won't go through treatment if they get diagnosed, just maintain quality of life as long as they can and let the chips fall as they may, same for me

Exactly! W&J did not give a rip about what the PC police thought and they goaded them at every turn, but in a humorous way. They didn't seem bitter or spiteful at all and as I have gotten older, I think thier ribauld approach to politics had more impact than listening to say, some sky screamer rant about Trump being a racist.

I hear ya, but they've made a lot of strides recently. I personally know several people who are doing great.

Steve said today on the tribute that John's dad died of lung cancer and it took him out really quick.
Then he mentioned John was at MD Anderson until he went home.
Then he said that they were planning on doing the scans for cancer but by that point he was too weak even for the scans, and that he had lost his voice entirely about a week ago

I didn't know how sick he was, I tune in sometimes & noticed Kenny had been filling in as of late. This morning I tuned in & it didn't take but a couple of minutes to realize what had happened. Don't know how they were even able to do the show this morning, you could tell they were in shock. I wonder if Johnson will try to find another sidekick or just go ahead & retire, because we know things will never be the same. Prayers sent to the Walton family...

The show is going to go on with ken at least for the time being.
He is no John Walton but the show has still been fairly entertaining

RIP Dude
The line I remember from one of them (W or J) was when the first plane hit the WTC on 9/11:
"I thought all the flying Kennedys were already dead."
In hindsight "bad" but at the time pure W&J.

Kenny & Steve did a live show on Monday morning
John died late Monday night
they ran a "Best Of" show Tuesday morning... it was while that show was on air that Johnson's article hit their flagship station's website announcing Walton's death
later Tuesday... Kenny posted that they would be live this morning as basically an on air celebration of Walton's life/radio career
ETA: if there had been no major issues whatsoever... I'm guessing Monday & Tuesday would've been live and then Wednesday-Friday would've been "Best Ofs" for the 4th of July break
I know they're going on break again following this morning's show... I don't believe they've posted when they'll be live again as of yet (which is to be expected at this point)
