He literally showed an entire Frosted Flakes (Kelloggs) commerical and said how great it was, while simultaneously shitting on Cheerios (General Mills).
They used to make you watch ADs to watch the content. In this instance, the content was the Ad.

I agree. I really loved his show before Trump. Of course it had a political slant but it wasn’t as glaring. After Trump, every main topic was related to him somehow or if not, they talked about him at length before the main story of the night. I don’t even like Trump, but it became too much. I stopped watching regularly and I’ll catch an episode every now and then.

That's always the excuse for these so-called comedians. Oliver has been praised by the likes of Time and the Associated Press for his investigative journalism, even being credited with influencing legislation. But once he or his fellow Daily Show alums get ridiculed, it's just satire.
Meanwhile, lefties seem to take things super seriously when Bill Maher calls out Islam or cancel culture on his comedy show.

Jon Stewart was the OG for this tactic. He would act as if he was a journalist then when he got called out on something, he claimed that he was just some satirical fart joke show that people shouldn't take seriously.
