I believe he built it for his daughter. I've lived in Madisonville for 2 years and have seen no sign of that good man.

I partied with him and Dan Akroyd years ago during Mardi Gras. He was walking in Pete Fountain's Half Fast Walking Club with a friend of mine. All I'll say is that I'm glad it happened because it was an absolutely epic experience. I like to think I saw a good bit of who he is due to his uninhibited condition and all I can say is that he seems very sincere and generous.

This dude abides...

My uncle coached him in football there. Said he's lazy, but a hell of a guy.

Who is your Uncle? The head Coach was A.Hill. He was still the coach when i played.

He lent money to his HS buddy, to open a place. When he's in town, he's up there. used to be up there chugging Whiskey by the bottle.

He's a good guy. Him sobering up has helped him quite a bit. Dude loves to eat. He can put down some crawfish. I remember hanging out with him during his drinking days when he was married. A buddy of mine was best friends with his brother in law at the time from Bogalusa. Anyway we hung out during mardi gras and he was a lot of fun.

True story about John Goodman. I was shooting basketball in my grandparent's driveway when I was twelve.

A fat guy, drunk as a skunk, rolls up next to me on a bike clearly out of it and drooling. It was none other than John Goodman. He just sat there and stared at me for a few seconds and rolled off.

I thought I was insane until I discovered he had family close by. Apparently he dropped by for a visit, got hammered, went for a bike ride, stared at a twelve year old, and went back.

I had a cup of coffee with him once. He was a very cool guy, down to earth.

Never met Spud...

Goodman used to hang out at the plantation coffee house before the storm. I came in one day and the place was packed. He was reading a paper at a table with an empty chair. I asked if I could sit down, he said sure, and struck up a conversation. I think it was around when he did Oh Brother.

When he was on the bottle, especially when his mother was sick, he would go up to his buddies bar and slam bottles of jack like it was water.
