That you make good threads.
Well, at least I write my own threads, good or bad.
There is something to be said for that.

Johnny Cash claims to have been everywhere but he was never in Baraboo.
And as far as I know, he never shot a man in Reno, just to watch him die.

It’s a way to pass the time. On call waiting for calls that might never come, so I can’t ever rest.
And I’ve written countless songs about places I’ve never been or things I haven’t done so I can’t judge them too harshly.
He just sang it with such passion so when I found out he was from New damn Mexico it just made me think.
That Liar John Denver,
Wasn’t from West Virginia,
And those country roads don’t take him home,
His tales of the Rockies,
Fall as flat as Milwaukee,
Or the badlands of New Mexico,
Yeah all of these singers,
With their smooth hooks and zingers,
About all the lives they never lived,
And now all of his noise,
Bout fiddlin Country boys,
Now I find a bit hard to forgive,
I guess there ain’t no truth,
In the songs of my youth,
And old Johnny Cash never heard trains from a cell in a Jail,
No mournful lines written,
From inside Folsom Prison,
But if they can make all their shite up,
Well then I might as well,
Merle Haggard, that Fogey,
Never lived in Muskogee,
And he probably smoked lots of pot,
And the Highwaymen, weren’t,
No damn builders or sailors,
Or spacemen, not one in the lot,
But when I sung their words,
Though it might sound absurd,
In my young heart I thought they were true,
And right now how I miss,
All my ignorant bliss,
Cause reality just leaves me blue
And well hell though it might be naive,
All their stories I want to believe,
All the sadness and heartbreak and everything they made me feel,
Yeah those places that I’d never go,
Heroes living in my radio,
They might all have been bupkis,
But when they sang to me they were real,
I guess there ain’t no truth,
In the songs of my youth,
And old Johnny Cash never heard trains from a cell in a Jail,

I bet his name wasn’t even Sue.
But I doubt there’s a singer alive who always told the truth. And why would we? The stories are so much better.

David Allen Coe wasn't in jail for murder.

Elton John’s song “Nikita” depicted a song about a woman complete with a music video of said woman at the Wall. However, the Russian name Nikita is a man’s name.

Hag was born in Oklahoma, and took the Dust Bowl trip to California with his parents.
And unlike Johnny Cash, actually did prison time.

Seems to me the 90s rockers were the most honest.
Jerry Cantrell is both a man in a box and down in a hole. Scott Weiland is smelling like a rose that somebody gave him on his birthday deathbed. (sucks because I'm a fan)
Jerry Cantrell is still alive, I think you got him confused with Layne Staley.

Willy and Coe and Jerry Lee Lewis all had problems with the TAX MAN (irs). This is from memory, not wikipedia. (subtle memory brag)

Been writing some real shite tonight
Can’t Make New Old Friends
You can’t make new old friends,
And old friends know you best,
For when the chips are down,
It‘s only old friends you’ve got left,
Because it takes a lifetime,
As your path it twists and bends,
You can change the road you’re walking,
But you can’t make new old friends,
For The way is ever changing,
And new people come and go,
But no matter where you wander,
You can find old friends you know,
Can’t Make New Old Friends
You can’t make new old friends,
And old friends know you best,
For when the chips are down,

Johnny Cash never heard a train from Folsom Prison.
John Fogerty wasn’t born on the bayou, never even lived in the South.
Did we grow up with nothing but lies?
Now if you tell me there was no magic dragon named Puff, there’s going to be pain.

Billie Jean was in fact Michael Jackson’s lover and the kid was his son.
