Can you imagine what this world would be like if we turned our backs on refugees just because there is a potential for criminal elements embedding within their ranks?
How would the citizens of NOLA/Kenner/Metarie have felt if every city blocked their entry and ability to seek refuge from Katrina? With the only logic behind the decision being that there are a few violent criminals traveling amongst the MILLIONS of people in dire need.
Put yourself in the shoes of that common Syrian father trying to get his family out of that hell hole.
The OT constantly rails against the perception that America is turning into a chickenshit. Are we really going to turn away those in need because we are scared?
I believe we are a strong enough nation to both offer assistance to the refugees while also protecting ourselves.

Take what and run with what???? The governor doesn't even have power to refuse the refugees. It's pure political posturing from him and everyone is falling for it hook line and sinker. "JON BEL DIDN'T SAY frick THE MUSLIMS! HE WANTS US TO DIE!"

That's exactly right. It's political posturing in the same way that JBE is getting conservatives votes because all he talks about is how he went to West Point.
Does he get a say in whether or not refugees get to get settled in LA? I don't know. But the fact that he supports it will finally let these idiot conservatives see him as the liberal that he really is.
