Yeah well he’ll soon have a 100+ mil in the bank to help him get over the heart break of that.

YouTube wasn’t controlling his content they were controlling their content.

YouTube was censoring and not allowing certain topics and people to be discussed. That’s controlling content.

Everyone in this thread and all over social media calling Joe a sell out would do exactly the same thing if life changing money was offered.

People need to get off their high horse.

Nothing will change for me except where I listen. I listen to it on the Apple Podcast app and I never watch him live nor do I watch the videos. It’s two people talking for three hours. I never understood why people WATCH his podcast.

Just a few weeks ago he was telling Donnell Rawlings to do his podcast himself so he would never have to answer to anyone. He spent 10 mins harping on the fact that he could control everything with the podcast and how he would never answer to anyone regarding how he does his podcast or what he talks about.

We will see how that goes with Spotify. I don't think they will get in the way much, but I could see a scenario where he has a controversial guest on and Spotify tells him he can't publish

I’m sure that was covered in the “full creative control” aspect of that contract. I suspect that was probably a sticking point for Rogan before signing any deal. He’s harped on that quite a few times, so I’d imagine nothing will change, regardless of what Spotify wants or doesn’t want.

I think this is more about traffic than it is substance.

190 million downloads a month is absolutely insane to think about. And that was last year.

I sometimes watch his podcast, but mostly stream the audio as the video is not really necessary. Some guests I enjoy watching too though. Anyway, Spotify is going to have the video form of his podcast offered, so that point doesn’t really matter.

Youtube is a horrible platform for content creators. This is a no brainer move.

Are we sure?

Bill Simmons sold The Ringer podcasts to Spotify for $200M and the feeds are still available on other platforms.

Pretty sure they wait a few months before going exclusive.

Rogan doesn’t go exclusive until September

Y’all remember when rogan was saying that he did his podcast because he didn’t want any conglomerate controlling his content... I member

Yeah, that conglomerate trying to control Joe is currently YouTube. The creators are about to leave. If Spotify gives people like Shapiro and some ousted creators from YouTube exclusive deals, that's the beginning of the end of the platform.

You really don't know what you're talking about here. YouTube is absolutely draconian in this day and age. If you mentioned the whistleblower's name from Ukraine, YouTube will still take down your video to this day and penalize you.

At this point he’s 50 percent of the content from “pulling something up” for 20 minutes at a time

Watching the smaller clips on YouTube makes way more sense to me than actually sitting down and listening to the same podcast for 3 hours every day
