To me if they are doing 6 rounds of interviews and a vp/founder is taking 3+ hours of their workday to interview for the 6th time they must not be very busy.
If they have time to do that, the obviously aren’t too focused on whatever they are building.

This role would own the biggest team at the company

Despite everyone telling you it’s a bad idea, you continue making statements that seemingly attempt to justify the ridiculous situation. I’ll make this easy. In the off chance this isn’t a troll, go ahead and take the job (after 4 more interviews) and go with God.

Serious question that might explain your desire to leave.
If you vest that much in 2 years, do you worry that your current company will lay you off before you vest?

Honest, my first impression upon reading your post was that you should tell them to frick off. However, upon second thought, a lot of people have been gone from the workplace for damn near a month for the holidays. Probably all of the HR folks in the company you have applied with.
I think you will probably hear something back sometime next week. In the meantime, I would try to figure out why the last guy to hold the position left.

I don’t worry about layoffs. I’ve added a lot of value. Company is also on the upswing

Sounds like somewhere you’d be micromanaged and over analyzed
I'd take less money to avoid working somewhere that has a micromanaging manager.
They are always the most arrogant, pretentious and condescending people. They also don't value their employees or their talent which usually leads to people leaving for more money elsewhere.
If I'm the OP and my current work environment isn't causing massive mental health issues or ruining my family/marriage, I'd stay the 24 months for the half million and then re-evaluate.

I have at minimum 500k in equity that unlocks over next 24 months.
We talking options? Or an actual grant of shares?
If it’s the latter, then it’s a no brainer to stay.

Current job I had a bunch
Recruiter
Regional
Group Interview with 7 people
Director
VP
It was tough but thats the culture- consensus.
It's like being invited into a club but once you're in, you're good.
I didn't think it was bad; you have to think it just means you have more people rooted in your success.

Both… but 10,000 + shares. And another 6000 options in the money

6? Wow! I though 2 for my gig running the laundromat was a bit much, but I'm grateful

It could also mean that no one has the balls to actually make a decision, or that no one is willing to put their name on anything and needs the cover of a “group decision” before acting.

Six interviews. Eff that. 2 at the most. Sounds like the owner wants to micro manage. Walk away.

Good lord. I’d have moved on after the second.
So fricking unnecessary
