I didn’t realize this needed that be said. I read the books, it was obvious. Slaves, the whole mudbloods/pure bloods thing, inequality, and of course totalitarianism- all front and center issues in every book.

She's bending the knee to the SJW terrorists

She has let herself get guilted a little too much for not having a “diverse” enough group of kids.
But this isn’t an example of that.
Her claiming Hermoine was always black or whatever was bull crap. She had total veto power over casting decisions for her movies. So...

Why do people say things like this as though it’s something to be proud of?

Didn’t McCaig troll Rowling?

I’m too tired to look it up, but to my recollection, she never said that Hermione was black; she said that she never gave Hermione’s race in the books, so people freaking out about a black girl being cast to play the role were being petty bigots.

Rowling has described wizard villain Lord Voldemort as a ‘nationalist’ and says her Harry Potter books deal with racism.
Why are we still discussing this woman. It's very obvious she's just pandering to leftists. Her own fans (a large sector of the fandom) admit it.

She never explicitly said it but:
I think she said it elsewhere that the best actress was black and that's why she was cast in that play that followed the films. That's fine if you just say that; that's how casting works. But Rowling seems to consistently try to virtue signal for attention and it's annoying.

Obviously those themes are deeply embedded within the books.
When you start your thought out with "obviously," I'm going to immediately call bullshite.

I guess "witches and wizards" are a race in the Harry Potter world?
I can see the "racist" angle in that case, but calling them "nationalist" makes no sense whatsoever. They want to take over the whole world. That isn't "nationalist" at all.

None of this equates to nationalism.

Rowling writes good novels under the pen name of Robert Galbraith

Exclusion is not an excuse for poor planning.
If she REALLY wanted Hermione to be black, she had over 7 films to assert that "this character is black".
I dont care about the race of a fictional character. But I hate it when race is be used a cheap gimmick to virtue signal. There comes a point where you have to ask, "how much of this is implied vs retroactive revision?"

Nationalist is a word they use when they can’t call you racist.
And of course Voldemort was a racist. That’s the entire premise for the war. This doesn’t change anything about the series.
She’s just covering her arse for saying people who cut their penises off aren’t women this week.
It’s insane that she feels the need to apologize for it. Stand your ground woman. We can be kind, understanding, and gracious to Trans people without accepting insanity or mental illness.

This last week I watched the new Lady and the Tramp and Christmas Carol on FX. They’re both fiction at the turn of the century and shoehorned mixed race couples in there. I have 0 problems with mixed marriages at all but it’s just weird to have it depicted so much in historical fiction when it would be very rare before the last 50 years.
When I see it in a commerical today it’s usually virtue signaling, but who cares? It reflects a larger proportion of society than reality but it’s just a commerical.
Placing it in Victorian England or early 1900s in the south is just pandering.
That being said, we’ve had tons of white folk depict people that were Hispanic, Asian, or Arab throughout film history. It’s not a big deal but it is eye roll inducing.

My take on the books was just the opposite. Voldemort reminded me of Obama and the Dems were his dedicated minions. He was making executive orders with his pen (wand) and his phone in order to fundamentally change and rule this country.
Obama wasn't even President when the final book was released.
