Sadly, I don't think we are ever going to find out what happened to her.

I dont know all the details, but the Monroe murder is more straightforward. He was seen with the victim in the days before the death. His cell pinged within feet of the crime scene the day she was killed. He made phone calls to the bank trying to get her pin number and he is the only person that used her debit card after her death.

If he didn't kill the monroe woman then he has the worst luck of being around crime scene as anybody ever.

As for Jessica Chambers, every single fire fighter and first responder heard her say Eric. Tellis knew Chambers and had sex with her, but it is hard to believe he was involved based on what she told the first responders.

Tell that to Scott Peterson.

It absolutely sucks but the Eric/Derrick thing has screwed the case.

I think he did it based on everything I have read but he cannot be convicted based on it either due to her saying Eric and them hearing Eric.

I agree. If it wasn't for that I think they might have gotten him.

They have emails between the two of him pestering her for sex.
They supposedly have phone records placing them together around the time it happened.
They have his car on video doing sketchy shite and driving in the right direction at the right times

Yes you can convict anyone with circumstantial evidence depending on your jury

I’d love to see what the jury looks like. Then you’ll have your answer as to who was deadlocked

They are pulling the jury from other parts of the state because it was so publicized. The first jury was from McComb, this jury was from Starkville.

Ive followed it pretty closely. The Eric/Derrick thing is causing reasonable doubt although every other piece of evidence says he did it.

The DA is hell bent on getting a conviction because its such a passion inducing case, but after two mistrials with two juries from opposite ends of the state, they may want to let the good people of Ouachita Parish have a turn.

I don't know all of the evidence presented but everything that I have heard is circumstantial. You cannot convict someone on circumstantial evidence.

Phone records showed that Tellis texted Jessica several times that day trying to get her to come over for sex. About an hour after Jessica's death, Tellis deleted all of his Texts to Jessica.

But, you do you.

Tellis will get convicted of the murder in LA; that one is a slam dunk.

Many did however. If some of the same ones changed testimony then they should be investigated. On the show about this many clearly say in their own words that they heard her say it.

Agreed. Seems rather strange they would change their tune though if that did in fact happen (I really don't know). Maybe they initially thought they heard that, but were always on the fence.

I watched a lot of the 2nd trial.

It’s tough. At least 5 first responders said they were positive she said Eric. They also said she didn’t know last name.

The circumstantial evidence against Tellis was strong. But at the end of the day, I don’t think I could have said guilty.

Tellis will still go to jail for the murder in Monroe though.

The entire second trial is on YouTube if anyone wants to watch.

Probably better to understand how the jury reached their decision.

The jury composition includes:
5-Black Females
4-Black Males
3- White Males
3- White Females
3 of them are alternates.
Jurors will leave by bus from Starkville to Batesville where the trial will be held.

I think the jury vote was split 50/50

In Louisiana you most certainly can, b/c we're stupid:

Across the United States, federal courts and 48 states require juries to be unanimous in felony verdicts. Louisiana is the only state to allow nonunanimous verdicts in murder trials. Only one other state, Oregon, allows split-jury verdicts in felony cases.

what does unanimous verdicts have to do with circumstantial evidence?

True...with a caveat.

If a woman is murdered and someone else's DNA is under their fingernails, that is direct evidence. Using that to infer that the person is the murderer is circumstantial. The only thing DNA can prove is that 2 people had contact with each other.

This cannot continue to go unaddressed. It's very important to me to know that the poster understands the difference between unanimous and circumstantial and that they are. completely unrelated to each other
