Good to hear he is doing well. Hope he beats this

The 78-year-old Jeopardy! host took time out to thank fans for their continued support in a video posted by the show's official Twitter account on Wednesday, on what marks the last day of filming season 35 of the long-running game show. Last month, Trebek revealed he was diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer.

Nobody lives forever, but I hope Alex beats it.

Seems like a genuinely nice man (like most Canadians).

Does anyone remember A.T. hosting High Rollers? Rolling those jumbo dice?

I could see John Green taking that job next. The guy that does crash course history on YouTube.

I say let Will Ferrell take his job for a few years doing an imitation of Trebek.

No. The weakest part of those SNL skits was Ferrell's Trebek.

People occasionally post about how "So-and-so is universally liked."

Alex has to be close.

Good for Alex.

Hard to see Jeopardy! without him.

Lets just be honest about it. He most likely won't beat it.

Hate being Johnny Raincloud, but late 70’s with pancreatic cancer? 90% of all people diagnosed with that die within a year. It’s one of the most lethal forms of cancer.

I don't even see how you replace a guy like Alex trebek. Just start a new show.

Yeah, his form of cancer is basically a death sentence.

Mortality rate 1 year after diagnosis is something like 90%

Jeopardy was around for 20 years before trebek became the host...

And American idol had another host with Seacrest in the first season, but everyone things of Seacrest when you think AI. Just like everyone will immediately think Alex Trebek when Jeopardy is mentioned.

ETA Just because he wasn’t the first host doesn’t mean he can’t be irreplaceable and/or synonymous with the show.

Sure, but The Price is Right has been going on for years since Bob retired even though he is synonymous with the show.

Very true, I just think it would be harder to replace trebek with someone who could carry the show the same way he does.

I listen to a show with a sports medicine MD and he quoted your 90% at a year and 100% within 3.

I wonder if the new individualized designer drugs that get the cancer cells to drop their shields and allow one's own immune system to kill them are available in his case. It would be nice if so.

I agree, he has molded it over 35 years.

There will be growing pains with whomever the next host is, I'm sure.
