Can’t link from my phone but it’s all over news outlets. I for one think it’s a good move because I expect the Corona virus to be eradicated in the next 16 days.

Buying time to lay the groundwork to go virtual.

Public school problems. My kids are in school getting actual instruction.

Instruction =/= learning

JP had a LOT of pressure from the politicians there, plus word got out that they were still waiting on some supplies.
They can be like St. Tammany and just go to school on mardi gras day. It sucks in JP anyways.

Thank goodness! This will save 28 teachers lives.
I agree it's probably due to getting all the virtual stuff in place for those opting to stay home and such even though they've had all summer to plan for this.
At least it will be less traffic on the roads all around when I'm driving mine to and from private school starting next week.

I give Ascension Parish three weeks. The leadership lacks the will to stand up to social media hysterics

what's the point of delaying? corona is going to be the same on the 26th as it is today

Completely anecdotal, but my school has seen a steady increase in parents opting for full virtual over traditional in the last week.

Weren't they supposed to start school this week? And they just spring this on unsuspecting parents now? They had the whole summer+ to figure this shite out. Did they not know a month ago that they didn't have these 15-minute test strips?
So glad that I send my kid to private school.

Reason # 167 we send our kids to Catholic school...
They were holding up signs saying "I don't want to die"....

They're just going to do multiple delays throughout the semester.

Well, I assume planning for 40K kids is a little different than 300...

Yup kids were supposed to start Wednesday morning. So parents were given slightly more than 36 hours notice.

They've had 3+ months to figure it out. How could they not have contingency plans laid out? Why would they tell the parents that school starts on the 12th then change their minds 2 days before the first day?
This seems to have very little to do with "planning for 40k kids" and points more towards "the people in charge are incompetent." Though I'm leaning towards "Teacher's unions fricked this up."
