Metairie's future doesn't look bright with the way apartment buildings are littered throughout the area. A lot of Nola trash has moved into the cheaper apartments along I-10 and Vets.

Haven’t those apartments been there for years?

They used to house the college grad/young professional crowd but now that crowd has shifted to the Warehouse District/Mid-City/Uptown.

Good point. How are they affording it? Warehouse district/mid city/uptown rents are way more than that area of Metairie.

I have a friend who's a JPSO and he said not to ever live between Severn and all points west along the interstate (all those apts. along the service roads.) I think I'd add "Fat City" to that list too.

Too many rentals consolidated in one area lead to nothing good.

Update: The deputy was shot in the elbow and lower leg while responding to a disturbance call on Veterans. The news makes it sound like it happened at the Wyndham but I can't tell for sure. Deputy will be okay. Suspect still on the loose.

A manhunt was underway for the suspect, identified as 38-year-old Tyronne Louis and, as of 12:30 a.m. Monday, he was not in custody. Lopinto said Louis does have a criminal history, but he was not sure of the extent of Louis' record.
