Please enroll and get tested for free for covid-19 antibodies. This will be the largest such study in the US so far and can basically provide invaluable data

Ochsner Health is pleased to announce the launch of a COVID-19 prevalence study, which will collect data to determine the spread and impact of the virus in Orleans and Jefferson Parishes. The study will offer free COVID-19 and antibody testing to enrolled parish residents at various testing sites throughout the region. Residents are encouraged to sign up for the study online today at testnola.org

Do we have any idea as to the accuracy of the test they will be using?

We did this already for all our employees and it basically drove the mortality rate down significantly (0.4%)
We are doing this study to force this into the face of the media/public

Thanks. I just signed up. I had signed up for an NIH study too, but that is taking too long.

Did you read the fine print? I couldn't find any fine print, except that the study is only for 2500 subjects. I didn't see anything about data sharing or banking for future use. This is an ochshner study, so it is likely that only ochshner will have identifiable data and anything that gets shared will be deidentified by ochshner before being shared. The question is, do you trust ochshner to properly secure and deidentify your data?

The website says they will not share your personal information to anyone. Not sure if HIPAA comes in to play here, I'm not in medicine.

We will collect your name, contact info, and date of birth to make sure that testing results are delivered to the correct person.
We collect demographic information like age, gender, race, and ethnicity to help public officials understand who has been most impacted by COVID-19.
However, your personal information (like name and contact info) will NOT be shared outside of Ochsner.
Your testing information will tell us how widespread COVID-19 has been across communities in New Orleans.
