It's prescribed as an anti depressant in India.
Maybe so, but powdered Rhino horns are sold as an aphrodisiac in China, but it doesn't make it so.
quote:
Tianeptine, sold under the brand names Stablon, Tatinol, and Coaxil among others, is an atypical tricyclic antidepressant which is used mainly in the treatment of major depressive disorder, although it may also be used to treat anxiety, asthma, and irritable bowel syndrome.
quote:
Tianeptine shows efficacy against serious depressive episodes (major depression), comparable to amitriptyline, imipramine and fluoxetine, but with significantly fewer side effects. It was shown to be more effective than maprotiline in a group of people with co-existing depression and anxiety. Tianeptine also displays significant anxiolytic properties and is useful in treating a spectrum of anxiety disorders including panic disorder,

Side effects
Compared to other tricyclic antidepressants, it produces significantly fewer cardiovascular, anticholinergic (like dry mouth or constipation), sedative and appetite-stimulating effects. Unlike other tricyclic antidepressants, tianeptine does not affect heart function.
µ-Opioid receptor agonists can sometimes induce euphoria, as does tianeptine, occasionally, at high doses, well above the normal therapeutic range (see § Recreational use below). Tianeptine can also cause severe withdrawal symptoms after prolonged use at high doses which should prompt extreme caution.

On March 13, 2020, with a decree approved by the Minister of Health, Italy became the first European country to outlaw tianeptine considering it a Class I controlled substance.
quote:
On 6 April 2018 Michigan became the first US state to outlaw tianeptine sodium, classifying it as a schedule II controlled substance. The scheduling of tianeptine sodium is effective 4 July 2018.
On March 15, 2021, Alabama outlawed tianeptine, classifying it as a schedule II controlled substance.
On November 14th, 2021, Alabama outlawed tianepine, classifying it as a schedule I controlled substance.
On July 1, 2022, Tennessee outlawed tianeptine and adds "any salt, sulfate, free acid, or other preparation of tianeptine, and any salt, sulfate, free acid, compound, derivative, precursor, or preparation thereof that is substantially chemically equivalent or identical with tianeptine", classifying it as a schedule II controlled substance.
On December 22, 2022, Ohio outlawed tianeptine, classifying it as a schedule I controlled substance with Ohio Governor Mike DeWine referencing the widespread availability of the chemical there as "gas-station heroin."
On March 23, 2023, Kentucky outlawed tianeptine, classifying it as a schedule I substance by an order of the Governor of Kentucky.
On September 20, 2023, Florida outlawed tianeptine, classifying it as a schedule I substance by an administrative edict issued by the Florida Attorney General.
quote:
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has expressed concern that tianeptine may be an "emerging public health risk", citing an increase in exposure-related calls to poison control centers in the United States. Sold retail as a dietary supplement and touted as a mood-booster and an aid for concentration, it is colloquially known as "gas-station heroin".

Should probably find something else to blame Landry for instead of this unless you have Landry Derangement Syndrome. The law passed by state legislature was basically veto proof, obviously was bipartisan, and far from the first state to do something like this
quote:
The law passed unanimously through both the Senate and House.

Now you're understanding?
To get hold of something to get high with? U serious? Anyways was just refuting his claim it wasn't an antidepressant because Chinese sell rhino horns. Am I understanding still?

Tianeptine doesn't kill people. Fentanyl, which is now in everything, does kill people. I'd rather a living father, assuming they teach morals, who self medicates with tianeptine than a dead father who had nothing else to turn to for their addiction except what was available illicitly.

Jeff Landry is a stupid frick. He does shite just to say "I did this". I saw on X that he posted something about making it harder for illegals to vote and basically making something an issue that is not.
When you go register to vote they are pretty strict. The first thing they do is verify you are a US citizen. And if you try to go vote.. If your name isn't in the system you can't vote. I know the old ladies where I vote will know you but you have to show them a state issues ID of some type. I went one time and forgot my wallet in my vehicle. Those ladies been knowing me sine I was a kid. They held a conversation with me, they know my brother and sister better and was asking me about them, etc and they said "okay before you sign here I need to see your ID". I realize I forgot it, they were like "well you have to go get it and get back in line".
Either way, that should be the secretary of state's job. But dumb fricking Jeff Landry.. with all the problems this state has, rather make up issues and take action.
