Calling it "gas station heroin"
What a drama queen, it's not even in the same universe as heroin.
I've been taking it for years to relax and focus and it's harmless and beneficial as long as you dont get stupid with it.
Let's outlaw Little Debbie cakes while we're at it. Those are more addictive.

BATON ROUGE, La. (KALB) - On May 29, Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry signed a bill into law outlawing Tianeptine, a drug commonly known around the nation as “gas station heroin.”
Act No. 143, formerly known as Senate Bill 17, was authored by Louisiana State Senator Beth Mizell. The law officially labels the federally unregulated anti-depressant drug as a Schedule One drug in the Uniform Controlled Dangerous Substances Law. This classification defines the drug as having no currently accepted medical use and may have a high potential for abuse.
According to studies conducted by the CDC, Tianeptine overuse and withdrawal can mimic opioid toxicity effects commonly associated with other scheduled opioids in the Schedule One classification.
The FDA began urging consumers in November of 2023 to avoid purchasing products commonly found in gas stations that contained Tianeptine, citing multiple reports of users experiencing seizures and loss of consciousness.
Senator Mizell claims that not only is the drug itself dangerous but the packaging it is sold in, is just as dangerous. Mizell said the packaging is misleading and not reflective of its dangerous packaging, directly comparing it to energy drinks commonly sold in “shot bottles.”
“It looks very harmless, it looks like products that have been commonly acceptable by the public.”
State Senator Beth Mizell, (R) District 12
Mizell said Louisiana should “get ahead” of the issue, reiterating the statement that Tianeptine is not yet regulated at the federal level.
“It’s something we need to get in front of. I mean we’ve got several things that have been known to expose the public to dangers that the FDA has not stopped, so this is something Louisiana could do on its own.”
State Senator Beth Mizell, (R) District 12
The law passed unanimously through both the Senate and House. It will go into effect on August 1.

We have the absolute worst qualities in our leaders, fiscally liberal and socially conservative. The Shreveport rep pushing everything anti-marijuana is owned by the Morris- Dickson narcotic distribution family.

I had to look it up. It certainly does seem to be so.

Exactly what I thought. OP wouldn’t need mystery pills from a fricking gas station to settle down if he wasn’t double fisting Monster Energy drinks all day

You take a gas station anti-depressant?
Do they sell it in the same machine as the quarter condoms or is out front with the Mexican goat weed?

It is insane how over-medicated this country is.

You are using something that you bought from a gas station to relax and focus. Do you not see the problem here?

Landry is an arse. I don’t buy questionable articles from a gas station, so I do not care about this. However - when is he going to focus on more important issues?

Why do you need a gas station anti-depressant?

You're better than this.
Why do you need gas station alcohol?

Looks like it's illegal in at least 6 other states, including nearby Alabama and Florida.

Jindal declared war on bath salts while the state crumbled. Landry will be more of the same, with some dumbass culture war thrown in.
Quit wasting time on library books and anthems at sports events, and go fill a fricking pothole.

That would make me an alcoholic, but that isn’t why I’m asking the question.
