The mistake the U.S. made was becoming so reliant on China for production. We should have stayed home and worked on developing more industry in South and Central America.

Stellantis is pretty short on electric vehicles at the moment and it's promised a $31.6 billion investment into electrifying its lineup by 2025.
For $31.6 billion they should just partner with VW or GM and use their tech. They are both ahead of the game on developing scalable EV architecture even if their actual EV’s are somewhat limited in appeal. Honda is working with GM and getting their tech. But I’m sure an infusion of cash from Stellantis would still be welcome in exchange for Jeep and Ram using their EV architecture.
Toyota might need a partner. Maybe Stellantis can work with them.
No way Stellantis can roll out a bunch of in-house developed EV’s to replace their ICE lineup by 2025. Maybe 2035…..

Who needs a car? Just get on government transportation to go from your government housing to your government job. Feeling sick? No problem we have government run healthcare too.

Spending billions to appease government while shutting down a plant and people losing jobs isn’t capitalism.
In the free market electric vehicles wouldn’t need to be subsidized if people were ready to move to that.

Good. Union auto workers are overpaid and foreign workers produce more.

Sorry that you hate freedom and prefer wealth redistribution instead. Commie.

I could be wrong, but in 1994 it basically got rid of tariffs on our exports to Mexico and canada. And Mexico and Canda are our largest trading partners not named China.
Meaning Mexico buys more of our shite then almost every other country.

Yes it created freedom and lowered prices dramatically. Has really helped Mexico to the point where illegal immigration is primarily from other countries.
But these people would rather make American consumers pay more so they can redistribute that wealth to pay for inefficient lower-level factory work within the US. Completely makes sense.

SIL has one and I tell her as much as possible that it isn't a real Jeep.

This is true. As of now Mexicans are a small fraction of the people crossing when they used to be the most.
And Mexico isn’t one of the poorest countries, it’s more in the middle somewhere.

All that union money that goes to Democrats and that's the thanks they get.

True. Economically its close to many Eastern European nations.

Because they are patriotic folks? Hopefully, they price them according to Mexican soccer mom's ability to afford.
