I have the hybrid jeep and like it. Fast and a shitload of torque. Real fun to drive. Only negative is the road noise, which only gets real bad above 75.

Can't for the life of me understand why a Rubicon is needed anywhere in LA. Front and Rear locking differentials aren't going to get you out of the swamp but crawling over rocks is a different story.
Maybe you could get a good trade deal and then drive it to CO and sell it for more.

I get this but i am at a point in my life where my kids are grown and all I do is drive around town. I do go hunting a couple of times a year and also visit my Dad in New Orleans. Those are the only road trips that I would likely take as my wife has a Honda Pilot that we would take if we ever go on a long road trip.
Then you are good. That's basically my situation. My wife drives the road trip vehicle, and I have the cruising around town Jeep. Word of caution: If you are going to get one that's lifted, etc then make sure you spend the money and do it right. It's more than slapping on a 4 inch lift kit. There is nothing more miserable (and scarier) than driving in a jeep that's all jacked up on a budget.

That's the situation I'll find myself in when my oldest can drive. We already have the big SUV for around town with the whole family and for trips, and my daughter will get the smaller SUV to drive to school and drive her younger siblings around. I'll either get another Jeep or get a used Gladiator then. Even if the bed is smaller, it will still come in useful at the hardware store and hauling other things that are a tight fit in an SUV.

If you want a truck then get a real truck
Have a "real truck" as my daily driver but I have a Gladiator as a fun vehicle.

Have had several. Sold my last one to get a Gladiator.

The Gladiator is the worst of both worlds
Not at all. This is the first 4 door Jeep I have ever had so I do miss the sharp turning radius of my Wrangler. Even my last JK was a 2 door and I could drive that thing like a go cart. Not a fan of the 4 doors but the Gladiator is actually the best of both worlds overall.
I am the very definition of what the OT hates though because I have both an F250 and a Gladiator with 35s and 33s respectively and slight lifts on each of them. If I worked in the oil field I would be dragging truck nuts everywhere.
My wife drives a Prius so she makes up for my carbon credit usage.

I drove a 4 door wrangler from Prairieville to Universal Studios in Florida and back and it sucked. They are strictly a weekend, cruising around town vehicle. Just my Dos Centavos.
Exactly. They get uncomfortable on long road trips.

Just have a lot of money for repairs.
So many people saying this probably haven't had a newer Jeep or any Jeep at all and are going off of the past or what they have heard. I have had all sorts of Jeeps from CJ5s, TJs, JKs, and the new JT/Gladiator. The JKs, JLs, and JTs have been great vehicles.

I know too many people that own 2-4 yr old jeep wranglers that have had so many issues that they all end up getting rid of them.

It’s better as a Jeep than as a truck

You ever hear of the penastar tick. Its def an issue. Also 12 and some 13 had head issues.
I have owned way to many TJ's currently own a 06 rubicon. The TJ is by one one of the best jeeps ever made.
I currently drive a 2013 i bought new 115k only thing i have done is tires and brakes. I love jeeps have had them all my life.

2014 JK Sport. 66,000k Replaced oil filter housing, radiator, thermostat housing. I would not buy a Jeep for reliability. IMO
