I remember that, that was the issue JBE thought would make some sort of fricking difference in the world.

Through May so far, we have conducted 186,832 tests.

10,496 positive cases of these 186+k tests.

That is a + rate of 5.6%.

SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN TO ME LIKE I'M A 5 YEAR OLD WHY SUCH TESTING CAPACITY IS NEEDED WHEN WE HAVE SUCH A frickING LOW % COMING BACK POSITIVE? And for heaven's frick sake if we only knew of these 10k cases, how many were in some sort of assisted living facility and/or was caught via a hospital or clinic of some sort.

frick these political assholes making fricking grand stands on non fricking issues.

They need the tests for nursing homes
They are just starting to test
All negatives will be retested in 2-3 weeks
All negatives will be retested in 2-3 weeks

I’m sure the nursing home is getting a nice little chunk of change to administer all these tests

They need 200k tests a month to ensure the numbers get bumped up to where they want them ahead of the election. Trump is already suffering bigly due to the virus and they want to keep their foot on the gas.

We already had that capacity before the request.

This is correct. Prior nursing home patients who are currently at a hospital are also being tested that way. Must have 2 negative tests prior to being released.

They are needed for higher risk industries. Nursing homes, hospitals etc... and for when we inevitable hit another wave.. add into the fact that he wants to reach a certain financial threshold for federal dollars and you have the answer.. I got no problem with him pushing for more testing because it only helps us open up quicker

No. I should have said "grown to dislike him even more..."

Apologies.

What do the 95% of people that get tested but don’t have Covid have?

Are they testing a bunch of no symptom old people?

Business owners --like factories/processing plants/construction -- have been the main people I've heard push for the availability of huge amounts of tests.

There are many that are having workforce infection issues that's setting back production, even in places without a large amount of overall cases.

Many are needing/wanting to shut down for a day/shift, clean and then test every employee coming back to work.

I know of one large bakery (products are all over the south and used in some major chain restaurants) that has had huge problems keeping up with demand due to constant cases, a couple of workers with bad outcomes which caused a lot more to be afraid to come in and constant cleaning shutdowns. They are now employing a lot of tests and, of course, the majority of those are negative but catching the one positive here and there is keeping them from having to continue shutting/slowing down.
