Seriously, I’ve been wearing mine for the last week. I’m vaccinated, but this state is averaging 5k cases a day. I’m not trying to feel like crap for two weeks.

@LouisianaGov points out that the reason he has gone to a mandate as opposed to a recommendation is that too many Louisianans did not adhere to his mask recommendation.
@LouisianaGov says, "let's rid ourselves of the notion that kids can't get COVID." He notes he has heard from several doctors who are "treating children who can't breathe right now."
@LouisianaGov points out that students who get sick can bring home the disease and spread it to their families.

I guess masks are just going to be the thing forever. If vaccines didn't stop this thing, I guess we're screwed.

Still have yet to see proof that masks do anything

People are so stupid. They’re instituting this mask mandate (even though it probably won’t help much) because people won’t get vaccinated. This is in no way is an indictment of the vaccine, but confirmation that our state is too fricking stupid to do the one thing that would help us avoid doing stupid shite like this.
It is absolutely an indictment on the vaccines. If they work we don't need masks.
Period....and I'm vaccinated.

LouisianaGov there is a false idea that kids don't get COVID or don't suffer severe cases of COVID. 2,079 kids have COVID. We know that those under 29 are driving the surge. 12-18 year-olds are a huge part of community spread. @WGNOtv
And this is why schools will be shut down this semester. In 2020 kids weren’t event that effected by the COVID. All the shut downs were due to contract tracing. Now, they say, kids are actually getting the virus. No way schools have on campus learning this semester, IMHO.

Of course, that’s why he’s reinstating the mask mandate right now, so he can get credit in a few weeks when the surge is over.
Well any sane person will see that Texas will see a similar drop without a mask mandate around the same time and understand it was pointless. But that person has to be sane to see it.

people fail to realize COVID won’t just be fricking eradicated. Masks kill the immune system. They’re the most useless thing to combat COVID.

Uhh, we’re still not going to. He’ll just throw a temper tantrum fit and lock us down in September cause no one is listening to him whine.

"Nobody should be laboring under the misapprehension that this is just another surge," says @LouisianaGov before announcing a mask mandate for people age 5 and up. "This is the worst one we've had thus far."
.@JoeKanter says this will be the hardest time for health care workers after a very long year. "We are the No. 1 state in the country now for COVID-19 in terms of new cases," also says we're reaching an all-time high for the state, which was a hotspot in early pandemic days.
