yes people will go bankrupt and the economy will suffer.
Dont worry Chris, your disability check will still come in the mail every month and your Wal Mart Greeter job will still be there tomorrow.

I didn’t say everyone but. Lot of people and in particular a lot of poor, working class people who just finally started seeing good economic outlooks.
And there have been how many deaths in America so far, but home many people can now not retire? Seriously your stocks, almost universally have lost 33% of their value.

Funny you think everyone involved in petrochemicals is a knuckle dragging wrench turner. No my formal education didn’t tell me that. The raw numbers from the WHO and CDC tell me that

Amazing that the trend is that the DEMOCRATIC governors are coming to this overreaction (Nevada, Louisiana, etc.), which everyone understands will create havoc in the economy, damaging it greatly, and hurting the current Administration's candidacy. Can't our sheepish citizens see through this sham??? I'm just waiting for the reaction when the POTUS moves to suspend some state/local rights, given the poor decisions these fools are making...

Don’t make this political. Trump hasn’t handled this well either. About the best he’s looked was his speech last Friday but the federal government isn’t blameless here

We went from 27k to under 20k since the start of this.
We are pretty much dropping by 5+% every few days.
We have already fricked our economy.

It is an awful point to have to make.
This isn’t about retirements at this point.
This is about the lives of our fellow Americans and we are throwing them all aside out of fear.

Barely 100 Americans have died.

This virus isn’t Ebola. This virus isn’t sars or swine flu. It’s just not
Is it spreading as slow as Ebola, SARS and Swine Flu?
The reaction to this has more to do about resources. It spreads a lot faster, which means more people will get it which means more people will have to be treated. Not everyone will get really sick, but a lot do and which means hospitals will be busting at the seams. Then if health care providers get it that puts a strain on things.
I am sure everyone realizes this isn't some virus that kills anyone who comes in contact with it.. What do you think would happen if things went on business as usual? Seriously.. Do you think
Lets say the death rate would triple if nothing was being done.... Then a year later it is revealed that the government knew about this virus and did nothing about it.

Yeah, I’m not going to abide by that rule.

Who cares? The stock market will bounce back to pre covid numbers a week after corona is over. Stock prices don't mean jack until you cash out.
Sure people are hurt financially short term which Trump is addressing with his check but what use is money if there is chaos in the streets with dead bodies piled three high along each gutter in America.
You can't travel, go dining, see a play or concert. There's not a lot you can spend your money on anyway. Just chill out til this thing is over and it'll be business as usual for the most part.
Crying about the dow jones when people are dropping like flies and we are on the edge of anarchy is foolish.

Ohio has taken drastic measures. Is their Republican governor trying to sabotage Trump's administration? What about the Republican governor who runs Florida?

If I woke up with a dry cough, slight fever and a sore throat tomorrow, I wouldn’t even go to the doctor. I’d just stay home until I felt better. Which is exactly what I always do and what I’m sure a lot of people are doing now.

why do you think it matters if it's only Nola or not?
Shutting one city down won’t do anything. It’s an asinine measure. And it’s a massive governmental over reach.
this thing has already spread everywhere. It’s not contained so trying to contain something to an area when it’s already spread makes no sense.
Limiting public interaction makes more sense than quarantining random cities and not other ones.
Further, what do you do about everyone who works in New Orleans but doesn’t live there? They travel in and out the city? Defeats the shut down right?
quote:
You think that they're going to be cool with it as long as it applies to everywhere else?
No. No one will be cool with it. But, closing everything makes everyone united in misery and they can’t look at the grass on the other side. Shutting down random cities will do nothing other than incite riots and anger in those cities and fear in the surrounding areas.
