Yeah, it includes cancer, heart disease, COPD, and type II diabetes. More problematic are obesity (BMI over 30) severe obesity (BMI over 40) and smokers.
But thats still not as bad as making election workers and some of the other bullshite/political positions that have been made eligible.

It's like they read these novels as How To books.

Most clergy probably already qualify via age or working at schools. Is the staff at a university really any different than office workers? Other than first responders and medical providers these carved out categories are becoming harder to justify. It really needs to go by age and risk.

It is a science informed process. The CDC's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices classifies higher ed faculty and staff in Phase 1B Tier 2. Median age is ~50 and most are routinely public facing to an age group where infection has been most prevalent. They are not eligible yet. They are in the next category...behind 35% of the population that is most at risk. Hard to argue with the decision.

Veterinarians we’re already on the list as eligible. My wife was told she could get vaccinated a month ago.

Louisiana corrections officials are offering inmates a $5 canteen credit for receiving the vaccine and promising wider access to visitation and programming once those activities resume, The Advocate reports.

Of the 460 Louisiana inmates who are 70 or older, 394 have opted to get vaccinated, according to the Department of Corrections. Another 19 elderly state inmates who are being held in local jails across Louisiana have received the first dose, said corrections spokesman Ken Pastorick.

Other inmates in local jails who meet the eligibility age could be vaccinated soon through an effort coordinated by the Louisiana Sheriffs’ Association. The vast majority of those inmates are awaiting trial and have not been convicted of a crime.

Must be nice when prisoners get it before others & get 5.00 for doing it

The process...and it applies to far more than COVID-19 vaccines. May not conform to what you want to believe, but that's really the problem with so much of the public discourse these days: we dismiss what we don't want to be true.

Has nothing to do with what I want to believe. The CDC ceased being a legitimate organization driven by science and fact based evidence a little under a year ago.

Sure is. Healthy 20 and 30 year old graduate assistants (teaching virtually) were some of the first in line here in Arizona. Makes perfect sense...

The same goes for all veterans regardless of age or medical conditions now being eligible through the VA. I am not against veterans getting vaccinated it just goes to show how this whole process has very little consistency.

college staff

Was asked if I was getting the vaccine by my boss a few weeks ago. Simply asked "Do I still have to wear the mask?" To which she replied "Yes." I went "Nah, I'm good."

Makes no sense. I'd get it if I didn't have to wear the mask. But I already had COVID last March so it would literally do me no good.
