Yeah, it includes cancer, heart disease, COPD, and type II diabetes. More problematic are obesity (BMI over 30) severe obesity (BMI over 40) and smokers.
So basically if you are 55-64 you can get it

I agree, and honestly that's a waste of their time to try to screen people based on anything outside of age.

I'm not in a rush to get mine but it's funny they want to protect people that might have 10-15 years of life left, but all the immunocompromised people under the age of 55 don't seem to matter but college educators do who most likely are doing online classes any way.

The process is informed, but not perfect, and the execution obviously has some issues. In Louisiana, the group in question will be eligible after at least 35% of the population deemed more at risk. 28% of the population in Louisiana is under 18. If we do some quick math, college faculty and staff will fall into about the bottom half of adults. They may eventually be placed in line before some others, but well back from those most in need of protection.

You know what I want JBE to do? GET BACK TO PHASING US OUT OF THIS SHIT
How are people not practically rioting at the fact that we haven't resumed phasing out?

The same goes for all veterans regardless of age or medical conditions now being eligible through the VA. I am not against veterans getting vaccinated it just goes to show how this whole process has very little consistency.
Yep. I don't care who does or doesn't get vaccinated, but the amount of incredibly young/healthy people who were skipping ahead of elderly folks a month ago is staggering.
How can you not feel like a total a-hole doing that? I know people who work 100% remote and were getting vaccines because their job title meant they qualified. I would feel like a jerk doing that.

My opinion is the process is informed by unions and other special interest groups. Keep it simple...prioritize folks by age. That would have avoided by at risk neighbor not being able to get an appointment for quite some time while ALL of the healthy under 40 graduate assistants I know got their shots.

The state should be 100% open. This is obscene. Stop trying things that have already been unsuccessful

I don't disagree with that at all, but you just know they're going to take their sweet time doing it in phases like they did in the summer.
If our numbers are really the lowest they've been like people have been saying, there's no reason we shouldn't be back to phasing like we were doing at a somewhat steady pace.
The ATC is still regularly raiding places at night. There is no reason for this.

Not sure there is vast difference in our stances. In Louisiana, those grad assistants are not eligible. Neither are college faculty/staff under 65 (or under 55 with co-morbidity).
Age is a hugely correlated with severe disease from COVID-19, but that drops considerably at 60, and considerably more at 50. Factoring in front line and essential workers who must be in workplaces more susceptible to outbreaks makes sense to me. That is why K-12 teachers are eligible now, but college faculty are not. Higher ed environments are more malleable.
