So you admit they aren’t overwhelmed with a Covid patients they are overwhelmed with staffing issues

I mean it depends what you define as overwhelmed. Anytime your normal amount of icu beds can’t handle the critically ill, I would define that as overwhelmed. This doesn’t normally happen in hospitals that you have to create more icu beds and start turning away from elective surgeries and have to consider sending some nonelective surgeries elsewhere. I would call this being overwhelmed. But yes, the larger issue is not enough staff.

Again, hopefully the infectious diseases doctors are off the mark about the surge in about a month.

What are the expecting this surge from?

They need to look at the light at the end of the tunnel. Those workers should be back soon and then have an extremely low risk of getting infected again anytime soon.

Reopening schools. I said this earlier in the thread but I asked her if she would believe them and she said as of now yes. Said that she didn’t quite believe them when they said reopening would lead to things being 2-3 times worse at her hospital yet they were right and correctly predicted the present surge. Again, I’m not rooting for them to be correct and hope for everyone at the hospital’s sake that they are wildly wrong. We’ll know one way or another in another month to a month in a half.

this is all they need to keep thing shut down. an expectation for an increase.

the question will be what is the next excuse? holiday gatherings MAY cause an increase??

There's no real second wave in Acadiana -- we just weren't hit at first like NOLA.

Why is a hospital worried about being overwhelmed with school kids?
From everything reported children are not the ones taking up beds & vents

Guarantee that it stays phase 2.

I think We will go back to phase 1 in a few weeks once colleges start back up and they start sending kids home
